to want the sleb twaddle board GONE?

It encourages the worst sort of nasty, libellous speculation, creepy fan obsessing and vicious gossip mongering.

It is inhabited by the type of posters who would feel very comfortable on the Sidebar of Shame.

It is not in the spirit of the mumsnet site - celebrities are parents too and it is in no way a happy and supportive place.

AIBU to think that it is surplus to the requirements of Mumsnet and shouldn't be there?

to want the sleb twaddle board GONE?
BillSykesDog · 09/04/2016 14:45

So...for example: you would have objected to the thread on Digital Spy well before his death that outed Savile as a rumoured paedophile?

You would have been one of the people in the 1990s angrily insisting that the Wales' were happily married and the press should leave well alone when in fact half of the stories were coming from Diana and it was her only means of defence against some very poor treatment?

Or the Bill Cosby allegations shouldn't have come to light (they came via the press after being ignored by police).

Not everything celebrities do is benign. And to suggest we should only be allowed to have a sanitised publicist approved version of celebrities lives which will promote their personal image and enhance their money making potential at the same time as covering up pretty odious behaviour is just bloody silly.

Is that Taylor Swift? What's she done? Confused

kennyp · 09/04/2016 15:01

vaguely irrelevant but i have never read it as i seriously couldn't go to a page that's called that awful name, as opposed to 'celebrity gossip' or something. the title makes my toes almost curl. it's like wine o clock/nom nom/cuppa.

although having towie and mic on AND real housewives of cheshire all in the same week is too good to be true and i'm championing ampika (rho cheshire) to rule the world.

Sparklingbrook · 09/04/2016 15:05

I think Sleb Twaddle is a great name. It infers that it's not a serious topic IMO. It's in the 'Fun and Games' section after all.

ssd · 09/04/2016 15:31

yeah, whats Taylor Swift done?

Sparklingbrook · 09/04/2016 15:33

Taylor Swift is with that nice Calvin Harris. Is that why she has 'haters'? She seems ok TBH.

ssd · 09/04/2016 15:35

and his sister is a mnetter, isnt she?

Sparklingbrook · 09/04/2016 15:36

Ah yes that rings a bell. Plus there was there was a thread a while back saying she was a good role model etc. Could even have been in that awful Sleb Twaddle topic. Grin But most likely in AIBU.

I love sleb twaddle. I think that it stops me from being a vicious gossip mongerer in real life.

I'm not arsed about chickens and personally find them boring as fuck. I haven't asked mumsnet to remove the chicken keepers board in case it paints MN in a boring light; I just don't go on that board. sorry chicken keepers

SoupDragon · 09/04/2016 18:22

That Independent report is basically saying it's a load of crap.

Which it is.

Sparklingbrook · 09/04/2016 18:22

The story is everywhere now Freddie. It's a real non story.

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 09/04/2016 18:24

Yeah I don't think the articles being posted are actually being read, cos they do nothing for the pro-Larry argument at all. Confused

Sparklingbrook · 09/04/2016 18:29

Have the Daily Mail got hold of it yet? The comments section will be amazing. Grin

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 09/04/2016 18:34

I tried to tell the Daily Mail about Darius and #darrygate but they weirdly weren't interested. Sad

user7755 · 09/04/2016 18:36

What is the sidebar of shame?

Sparklingbrook · 09/04/2016 18:37

The sidebar of shame AFAIK is the bit in the Sleb Gossip page of the Daily Mail online that runs down the right hand side.

Not to be confused with Heat magazine's 'Circle of Shame'.

Chippednailvarnish · 09/04/2016 18:46

I luffs it.

The Peter Andre threads are some of my favourites.

No idea who Larry is.

user7755 · 09/04/2016 18:48

Thanks Sparkling - that is why I have never heard of it! (thought I had missed something on here Grin)
