I have just put my meter readings in today and they are OFF THE SCALE!!!!! For some reason I have used more than 25% more this month than last month.

So, I wondered if anyone would mind telling me what they pay as a comparison.

We only have electric (no gas in the village), 4 bed semi, 1930's, shit double glazing, SAHD and 2yr old. This month we used 1288 units which is £160!!!! But last month £112 and month before £122.

3 bed semi, I'm on a key meter and top up around £10 a week, a bit more in winter when I have to use the tumble dryer.

£55 electric and £60 oil so not much difference as we use oil for heating and hot water. It's been really chilly the last month, has dh had heating on all day?

We're with Good Energy. 2 bed terrace. They've just cut our monthly elec payment from 43 to £19 a month.

£88 with ovo 100% renewable energy.
3 bed end of terrace.

Dh just said we over pay though so could get it down to £60.

2 bed flat with storage heaters and key metre. Use £30 a week in the winter and £20 in the summer.

2 bed terrace. Utterly lazy and forgetful so heating often stays on all day when we are not home. £85 a month.

£60 a month for both gas and electricity. I think electricity is probably £40 of that! Can you not move to monthly DD? Do metered people pay more than people who pay monthly or at each bill? X

About £180 per quarter, 3 bed house and us tumble dryer daily no dishwasher though. Have just changed to £46 d/d per month.

If you using storage heaters or have emergency tank to heat water that will kill your electric

3 bed end terrace. £100 a month fixed rate combined electricity and gas. No idea what actual usage is month to month but I'm generally in credit by a couple of quid. Note, we are quite frugal, we put a jumper on, not the boiler. The heating is only on for 30mins in the morning and 3hours in the evening. I'll turn it off totally now it's mild. Where do you dry clothes? Any electric munching tumble dryer or de humidifier?

3 bed terrace and anything between 2-5 kids depending who's home. (Usually 2 or 3). £100 a month. Although the nPower woman claimed it was going to be £80 a month. We have coal/wood fired central heating so I spend £60 a month on coal in winter, as well. Which is a fraction of what we used to use - I used to have the fire lit all day in winter. Now I just freeze all day and light it at night when everyone gets home. I dry the clothes for all of us on the line from Spring - Autumn, but at the moment have to use the dryer, so my bills are higher.

nPower messed up, giving me what looked like a good offer, then forgot to set up the direct debit. Like an idiot, I assumed the money was going out, never checked, and it took them a year to get round to phoning us which meant last year I had to pay two years' worth of electricity - so it was as high as £200 a month. My fault for not reading bank statements but their's for not bothering to contact us about it for 12 months...

They are vile on the phone - incompetent and rude. I have been on the energy provider swapping websites, but can't get a cheaper deal.

140 a month for both gas and electric. 4 bed semi with shot windows. I'm at home all day. So similar to you really.

4 bed town house, 10 yrs old (but 4th bedroom not heated) we're with First Utility and pay £55 a month (gas/electric). We're out all day and heating/water is timed an hour in the morning and 2 hours early evening. We use the dishwasher daily and tumble dryer 2/3 times a week.

It was £69 a month but reduced in January. I can't believe it's so cheap! Our deal comes to an end in May so hoping I can find a similar deal.

Not sure what we use but British Gas have our dd set as £133 electric £48 gas per month for a 3 bed. That also runs a hot tub during April-September. 2 adults now 3 children, I'm at home all day.

DH is disabled and does feel the cold so the heating has been on all day but he normally does anyway. We don;t have a tumble drier, we either dry in the house and the dampness really helps with my hair and nails not getting destroyed by the heating, or out on the line. DH has just asked why the water pump was on - it is an obsolete pump that the landlord did not disconnect when the had a new heating system put in. I am now wondering whether it was that which caused the massive hike this month. 2 year old has a fascination with switches so am guessing that at some point he flicked it on. He has just suggested we put a blank plate on it.

I do pay by DD monthly but I put my meter readings in every month because we wanted to monitor the (then) new heating system, which has basically doubled the electric bill. However previously we had coal fired central heating which was dirty and difficult and cost lots in coal!!

I am really surprised at the range of bills though! Of course it will come down to how people use it and the quality of building, but still, that's a massive range.

£40 a month for gas & elec combined with Ecotricity. 2 bed flat about 15 years old. I'm at home most days, am fairly liberal with heating, deep baths and we have lots of gadgets.

£90pcm for gas and electric. 3 bed terrace, double glazed. Heating on all day (6am-10pm) but set at 15c. We're currently in credit.

We pay approx £80 a month for oil (heating and hot water), £45 a month for electricity (although that will come down slightly now as we've just had solar panels fitted) and around £12 a month for water.

The tumble dryer is on most days, and there's usually at least one adult and one child home all day. I think our electric and water are quite cheap judging by some other bills on here. We have quite a large 5 bed house and 5 people in the family, as well as various livestock, so we don't really scrimp with the heating/electric/water.

In winter I pay about 80 a month for electricity and 180 a month for gas. Otoh it's below freezing the entire time so the hearing has to be on to stop the pipes from freezing. You can't really just stick a sweater on when it's -10 to -15C outside. Grr.

It worked out as £56 per month last year and I imagine it will remain the same this year. We have a 5 bed terrace.

We have a key meter. 20 a week over summer 30 over winter. Bad feeling this coming winter will be worse as will have a new born as well so our bedroom will alsp have to be heated, we never bothered this year!
