. . . to ask how much you pay for your electric

I have just put my meter readings in today and they are OFF THE SCALE!!!!! For some reason I have used more than 25% more this month than last month.

So, I wondered if anyone would mind telling me what they pay as a comparison.

We only have electric (no gas in the village), 4 bed semi, 1930's, shit double glazing, SAHD and 2yr old. This month we used 1288 units which is £160!!!! But last month £112 and month before £122.

I'm on prepayment and I think I pay similar or even less than people paying DD, I don't know. I have three young DC (youngest not in school yet) and work from home so we're in quite often. I put £10 electric and £20 gas on a week. Less gas in summer, probably £10 a week. So between £80 and £120 a month for both.

£22 a week gas and £16 a week electric. Pre payment metres, Scottish Power.

£16 a month.

But we have gas here.

1930s house, poor dg is a bad combination for heating bills.

We pay £112 a month for both. 3 storey 4/5 bed house (but heating only on in three bedrooms). I'm at home all day so the kettle is boiled a lot and I have two laptops on all day for work.

Being made redundant at the end of April though so really need to get the costs down... May look to switch. Currently with First Utility.

3-bed mid-terrace and we don't have gas. We have a wood/coal burner that goes on sometimes. I work from home so there is electricity being used all the time - television, tumble drier, washing machine, laptop (constantly on) - and sometimes I have a portable electric fire on.

Our bill is about £120 per month.

£70 a month for gas and electric. 2 bed semi. That's with ovo

We pay by monthly direct debit and get an annual discount for that.
We have Economy 7 and run the washing machine on that. No tumble dryer, gas cooker and boiler.
£45 a month for gas
£55 a month for electricity.

£130 DD a month for both. 3 bed end of terrace.

Shocked at the variety.

I pay £104 for both, 5 bed semi. I change supplier frequently. Last switch I did was with Uswitch which shaved 60% off my new quote with my current supplier. Plus I got a case of wine which arrived in time for christmas.

£50 a month for gas and electric

I think I'm being robbed!! 2 bed semi, just me and DH, both work full time so nothing on during day. Pay £180 a month DD to British Gas. That is for electric and gas together, don't know what the ratios are. I just thought that was normal as it averages out over the year but looking at some of these posts I think I am actually being robbed!.... Of to look at comparison sites to change supplier..!

oohblimey- that's huge!!!! I am living in a 5 bed semi and work from home- PC rarely gets switched off and heating etc.

Do try uswitch or some other group switch- that's where the best deals are to be had. have a look at martin lewis' moneysavingexpert.com
I was quoted £190 a month from my current supplier ( Eon) for the next 12 months. I had quote from uswitch and was quoted £104 for the same energy usage with a group switch ( to eon).
So I signed up, my existing contract with Eon was terminated, and I switched to a group deal with eon. Saved me a whopping £1032 over the next 12 months. And I stayed with the same supplier.

Ours is £86 a month
5 bedroom detached house, it's me dh and ds who is 6 months.

£93 per month on electricity and another £40 for oil. Three bed modern semi, lots of gadgets and it's very wet where I live so I use the tumble drier far far more often than I'd like to. Oh, and our only shower is an ancient electric shower that is not energy efficient at all.

If you have had the immersion on, on top of your normal system that would have caused the hike (although in my experience it would have been bigger).

Ours is 92.00pm, 4 bed detached. We are about 100 pounds behind currently.

3 bed end of terrace (70s), double glazing but not new. We have no gas supply, so everything electric. Currently pay £90 per month on DD.

We used to pay £180 a month for electricity with E.On but changed supplier last summer and now pay £80 a month with EDF. All electric, 3 bed semi, storage heaters, immersion heater for hot water (which is on a timer so it only comes on for 2 hours when Economy 7 kicks in, putting that on a timer made a big difference to our bills).

Right just switched and saved £80 a month!!!!!!

We're in a large two bed flat and we pay £74 pcm for electric (no gas here)

Electric about £120 per month (keypad meter)
Oil heating about £65 per month
Coal/sticks about £50 per month (multifuel stove)
SAHM, DH and 5 DC. Tumble dryer every day (2-3 loads daily), loads of electronics charging, I'm quite ill & need the house to be warm but crickey we spend a lot compared to everyone else
