I think he must have something wrong with him. Is he a narcissistic psychopath or something like that?

Seriously. What kind of head does this sort of rubbish come from? I simply do not understand his appeal. I feel like I must inhabit a parallel universe or something.

Irishdad when you can carry a baby to term you get to have a say in this kind of decision otherwise it's my body. Making abortion illegal doesn't stop abortion you just have dead mothers as well.

HelpfulChap · 04/04/2016 05:44

Well said Lynn

TheDowagerCuntess · 04/04/2016 06:06

I think Trump is as surprised as anyone that he has got this far - and is realising that he might actually have to do something tedious and time-consuming, like run the country. And so is coming out with ever more extreme views to alienate the majority.

I wouldn't worry too much about him.

claraschu · 04/04/2016 06:30

There is no way Trump would get elected.I hope that no Republican can now get elected because of the divisiveness of this primary.

The air-time and media attention given to Trump is criminal, in my opinion. What Bernie Sanders has done is at least equally remarkable and newsworthy, but he has been largely ignored because he is threatening to the fat cats.

In the UK Sanders has also been ignored because it is so much fun to look down on Americans, and when have we given you a better chance to sneer than by providing you with the irresistibly awful Trump?

AppleSetsSail · 04/04/2016 07:30

An interesting article on Trump and his position on abortion.

Saw this on Instagram the other day...

Opinions on abortion are like nipples.
Day to day we only see men's.
But when you get down to it only women's are important.

Separetly I always wonder how many anti-choice men still merrily have sex before marriage and with partners they wouldn't actively choose to have children with.

seafoodeatit · 04/04/2016 09:41

Whilst I understand the outrage at his comments, the silence over the amount of sexual health clinics being closed over in the US means that you may as well be banning abortions as they're making having access to a safe place to have one rare , not to mention the consequences of no access to screening and STI testing.

BeALert · 04/04/2016 20:44

In the UK Sanders has also been ignored because it is so much fun to look down on Americans, and when have we given you a better chance to sneer than by providing you with the irresistibly awful Trump?

I think there's something very accurate about this.

SenecaFalls · 04/04/2016 21:02

Trump is the son of a Scot and has high profile business interests in the UK; that also might account for some of the heightened interest.

MaudGonneMad · 04/04/2016 21:55

In the UK today a woman was punished for self-administering a medical abortion at 10-12 weeks.

MaudGonneMad · 04/04/2016 21:58

Story here. What fuckers she had for housemates.

sparechange · 05/04/2016 13:23

As IrishDad has so rationally and reasonably reminded us of what women in RoI and NI face when trying to access a safe abortion, I'm going to take this opportunity to post the link to the (only?) charity which arranges a legal abortion for them in the UK, as well as travel and accommodation if needed.

They operate on shoe-string budgets, entirely from donations of people who hate the unfairness and barbarity of the laws imposed on them. It was the MN nominated charity a while ago as well...

There are hundreds, possibly thousands, of beautiful, healthy Irish children alive today who may not otherwise

What about the hundreds, possibly thousands of unhealthy babies, with serious problems who died before or shortly after birth, in pain, because a pregnancy couldn't be terminated at a time before they were capable of feeling pain? Happy to be complicit in their suffering?

UrgentSchoolHelp · 05/04/2016 14:08

In the documentary "Trump: Can he really win?" You see his ex butler talking about him in a complementary manner. He says (full of admiration) something along the lines of "he can deal with any situation or set of people with ease because he can be who he needs to be". VERY TRUE!

Trump will say anything he needs to say to get votes. What does he really believe? Who knows! After all, he used to be a Democrat too! I would imagine he uses his business brain and will happily align himself with whoever can help him to the top / to stay at the top.

What would he do IF he was ever elected? Probably proceed with plans for world domination In the Bush "you're either with us or against us" fashion, only more hardcore.

He is both mockable and terrifying.

UrgentSchoolHelp · 05/04/2016 14:16

Presumably Irishdad would have no objection to a bunch of women enacting laws saying that male masturbation wasting the precious God given sperm should be illegal in Ireland on religious grounds? images of Irishdad frantically booking flights to the UK twice a week

UrgentSchoolHelp · 05/04/2016 15:31

I left out the GrinGrinWink obviously.

HelpfulChap · 05/04/2016 16:00

I will make a donation to that charity later.

They do have a bit in their blurb that confused me though.

ASN provides financial assistance to women* to travel to the UK for abortions.

*ASN do not ask clients their gender and gender identity does not influence grant eligibility.

AppleSetsSail · 05/04/2016 16:17

There are hundreds, possibly thousands, of beautiful, healthy Irish children alive today who may not otherwise

What do you think about all the beautiful children who are not here because of contraception?

Snowfedup · 05/04/2016 16:27

maudgonemad absolutely right and in northern ireland we will soon find out who they were - stupid ignorant compassionless bastards !

sparechange · 05/04/2016 16:43

Helpful,
I'm going to bet my house that they've been forced to include that sentence after a complaint from a trans or non-binary pressure group who have accused them of being exclusionary/discriminatory/TERF by saying they offer services to 'women'

HelpfulChap · 05/04/2016 16:53

I think you are bang on!

mudandmayhem01 · 05/04/2016 16:57

I have read how the funding is provided, directly to the abortion provider, help with accommodation, local travel etc is provided by volunteers. What a valuable charity, just ignore the gender identity nonsense as only someone who was biologically of the female sex make use of their services. Spare change you are probably spot on.

Lweji · 05/04/2016 22:20

Maybe it was because of transmen who got pregnant?

AugustaFinkNottle · 06/04/2016 11:21

I'm hoping that the Wisconsin result has sent a very firm message to Trump that the tactic of opening his mouth and saying whatever he thinks will keep his most rabid supporters happy is not going to work.

PalmerViolet · 06/04/2016 17:31

The woman in NI's housemates reported the abortion because she didn't display what they felt were the correct emotions after her abortion.

They don't come out of this Belfast Telegraph interview well.
