... to have not named my baby yet? (6 weeks, tomorrow)

Hi there - DS will be 6 weeks, tomorrow Sad I have a handful of names I love, but it's becoming impossible. I have tried phoning the registration office; they will not allow me to move my appointment (it's tomorrow)...

Has anyone else been in this situation? Family, and friends, think I'm being unfair to DS...

I think that Charles goes really well as a middle name.

Congratulations-he really is stunning.

Pooseyfrumpture · 30/03/2016 18:11

You've got to get Chesney in there somewhere Grin

Crispbutty · 30/03/2016 18:13

Its a lovely name :) congratulations

Mousedl1 · 30/03/2016 18:19

Regardless of this its law that you have to registered a baby by the latest 6 weeks after birth if you haven't the person who delivered it gets notified and is legally allowed to name them. I doubt they actually do it but it is law to register a baby by 6 weeks which is why they quite rightly won't move the appointment and the poor child without a name is a bit unfair

VolvicTouchofFruit · 30/03/2016 18:22

It's not unfair. He's just a little baby. A name isn't that important right now... I've found a name, but it isn't unfair

OP posts:
Mousedl1 · 30/03/2016 18:24

If you think that's the case then ok

NeedsAsockamnesty · 30/03/2016 18:26

Moused.

Actually if you haven't got a name in time they register the birth leaving the name blank

diddl · 30/03/2016 18:27

"and the poor child without a name is a bit unfair"

Except that he now has a name & will be registered as suh tomorrow!

I'm sure Op & her husband have been discussing it & carefully considering!

It'll be a story to tell him when he's older!

NeedsAsockamnesty · 30/03/2016 18:28

You have up to a year to add a name oh and of you don't do it in time the fine is tiny

badg3r · 30/03/2016 18:29

Elliot Charles! Love it! He's a cutie. Fwiw we registered DS at about 8 weeks because there were no appointments till then!!

YellowShockedFace · 30/03/2016 18:30

I am sure he's really angry at the moment and is thinking of going no contact moused Hmm Confused

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 30/03/2016 18:35

If you've still not been able to choose from your short list. Perhaps something is telling you, that. None of the names are suited to him.
Is there any chance. We could see a picture of him. To see what name he suits.

Sagethyme · 30/03/2016 18:38

moused that is complete rubbish! My ds didnt have a name at six weeks so it was 'baby' followed by his surname. When at ten weeks we finally agreed on the name, we had to pay an administration cost for putting his first and second name on the documents. You also have 12 months to change names,.

minipie · 30/03/2016 18:38

Just read the thread, I was going to say he looks like an Elliott or an Aidan.

Lovely happy baby OP, congratulations, it's clearly been a long time coming Flowers

ZanyMobster · 30/03/2016 18:38

Elliot Charles is lovely Smile

ZanyMobster · 30/03/2016 18:39

He definitely suits that name also

cowssheephens · 30/03/2016 18:42

I love the name OP. Perfect name. Congratulations.

I fully understand with the difficult naming little Elliot. Big hugs.

Fpmd1710 · 30/03/2016 18:43

I don't think you're being unfair leaving it this long. A name is such an important thing, it will stick with them through life. My mum took the entire 6 weeks to name me, apparently I had a different name every week leading up to registering me. With my DS I has his named sorted from the moment I knew the sex, yet after birth I changed it three times before settling on a name I had said no to whilst pregnant.
You want to be sure as this is one of the first important choices you make for your child and there is nothing wrong with that

Bunbaker · 30/03/2016 18:49

You will have to register him by tomorrow anyway because you have to do it within 42 days of the birth.

PedantPending · 30/03/2016 18:54

Christopher Thomas
not helping, I know. He is lovely, congratulations.

Isabella70 · 30/03/2016 18:54

"The rest are kinda boring or a bit middle-aged."

But of course the baby will be middle-aged sometime and still have the same name. Smile

Maybe I overthink, but I'be always found it odd we say 'baby names' when we're naming a person for life.

(Incidentally, good luck, we named DD on day 42 at the last minute)

FedupNagging · 30/03/2016 18:54

What an absolutely gorgeous baby Volvic and after what you have been through, totally get why you found it a bit difficult choosing a name.

Love the names you have finally chosen so hope you don't change your mind Wink

Excellent news!

Hello Elliot, have a happy life.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 30/03/2016 18:59

Congratulations on your baby. Flowers
I have to say I think it's absurd that you've taken this long to choose his name! Mine were reacting to their name at 6 weeks. Thank goodness you've now got something to call him, hopefully you'll stick with it.
