... to have not named my baby yet? (6 weeks, tomorrow)

Hi there - DS will be 6 weeks, tomorrow Sad I have a handful of names I love, but it's becoming impossible. I have tried phoning the registration office; they will not allow me to move my appointment (it's tomorrow)...

Has anyone else been in this situation? Family, and friends, think I'm being unfair to DS...

I feel your pain but the reality is you've got to choose something. FWIW I like Elliott Matthew but to be honest I quite like them all, and wouldn't turn my nose up at any combination!

My son will be 6 weeks on Monday and I'm only registering him this Friday - we've had his name since the day he was born but 6 weeks seems to have flown by!

SkodaLabia · 30/03/2016 17:07

Can't move for Olivers, Noahs and Charlies round here.

Elliot is fab, it's not hugely prevalent but not weird. Suits all ages.

Matthew is very inoffensive, but I think people are called Matthew because their parents don't want to get it wrong, it's kind of a non-name to me.

Go Elliot with no middle name. Do it!

Notso · 30/03/2016 17:07

Matthew James Elliott.

He is so cute, congratulations.

BieneBiene · 30/03/2016 17:07

Elliot(t) is my favourite boys name.

JockTamsonsBairns · 30/03/2016 17:12

Both Elliott and Matthew are lovely names, in any combination. I hadn't realised that Elliott had been around for many years, but I have a colleague whose GF is Elliott - he's in his 90's.
I'm surprised that some pp are saying that Noah is unusual - not in this area it's not! In our little village school, there are 11 boys in Y3, four of whom are called Noah, and out of six boys in YR, two are Noah. Same with Oliver / Ollie - lovely name, but just too popular now imo.

Congratulations on your little boy btw, he's adorable! (And I agree, definitely a Calum) sorry! Grin

BoopTheSnoot · 30/03/2016 17:13

My DS is Elliott, and I'm heavily pregnant with DS2 who will be an Oliver. So, OP all o can say is you have fabulous taste from looking at your shortlist Grin

JockTamsonsBairns · 30/03/2016 17:13

Matthew James Elliott is fab!

RubbleBubble00 · 30/03/2016 17:13

Oliver, Charlie, Thomas, Noah are all in top 11 boys baby names for 2015, so I would discount them tbh.

I would go Matthew personally but Elliott is nice too.

Drinksforeveryone · 30/03/2016 17:17

Whatever name you choose your son will grow to suit it.

VolvicTouchofFruit · 30/03/2016 17:18

No, it doesn't bother me that the NN is a bit feminine Smile

We are going for Elliot Charles - DH had final say Smile I'm happy with that, thanks all Thanks

Yay! Grin

Elliott132 · 30/03/2016 17:19

Hi There,

I've always had two Ts at the end of my name and I have never had any issues with it - I am thankful my parents chose the name they did :)

Good luck! If you're taking such care over this I'm sure you'll be an amazing parent!

Artandco · 30/03/2016 17:19

Elliott Matthew Charles

Use two middle names. Many people have two or more. Means you gain an extra name choice especially as your likely to be choosing names just once.

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 30/03/2016 17:20

Elliot Charles is lovely op, congratulations on your adorable boy. Flowers

slicedfinger · 30/03/2016 17:23

They are all good names. Definitely go for out of the hat. As pp have said, if you are disappointed with what comes out of the hat, do it again, till you get one you are happy with .

happyis · 30/03/2016 17:25

Another vote for Matthew!

Funny because when I read your list, I liked the Celtic sounding names - Aiden, Ciaren and Matthew would probably have been the last one I would have chosen, but He just looks like a "Matthew"

Maybe do a short-shortlist of the top 3 names and then take turns to call him that name.

HelenaJustina · 30/03/2016 17:25

Hurrah!

Welcome little Elliott Charles!

Have a lovely time making it official tomorrow and celebrate all your cerebral effort with Wine

Gazelda · 30/03/2016 17:31

Loving Elliot Charles.

There's an Elliot in DD's class and he's handsome, funny and has perfect manners. Just like yours will be.

peachypips · 30/03/2016 17:34

I think that's the perfect choice. Well done and welcome Elliot Charles!

VolvicTouchofFruit · 30/03/2016 17:36

Ahhh, thank you all Halo

I hope my little boy will grow up to be like that!

I know lots of you thought it was ridiculous there wasn't a name picked out, but, not to make this a depressing thread, or whatever, but we've had to name 4 angels in the sky! So it's all been a bit touchy, the subject!

But I'm so happy he's here and it's great to talk to him, with an actual name Smile

Cute baby volvic love the names. Fwiw we had to put baby sage when registering ds as we couldnt agree on a name. He was 10 weeks old before we gave him his name!

VinceNoirLovesHowardMoon · 30/03/2016 17:41

Don't panic about getting the 'right' name. In a few weeks it will just be his name. It's not a small decision but it's not the biggest one in the world either. All the names are nice!

nocakes · 30/03/2016 17:41

All the Noahs I have ever taught have been rather odd...

neonrainbow · 30/03/2016 17:46

Sorry about your previous losses op. Elliott Charles is lovely. You could even put Matthew on the end as well. I think 2 middle names is lovely.

Muldjewangk · 30/03/2016 18:06

Matthew is nice but will become Matt, I like Elliot James.
