... to have not named my baby yet? (6 weeks, tomorrow)

Hi there - DS will be 6 weeks, tomorrow Sad I have a handful of names I love, but it's becoming impossible. I have tried phoning the registration office; they will not allow me to move my appointment (it's tomorrow)...

Has anyone else been in this situation? Family, and friends, think I'm being unfair to DS...

FWIW I prefer Elliott to Elliot. Easier to spell when there are 2 l's and 2 t's!

VolvicTouchofFruit · 30/03/2016 16:48

Help!

Elliot Charles
Elliot James
Elliott Matthew

I like Oliver, but it'll wind me up if they always call him Ollie - I don't mind friends, and as a NN, but I don't want that to always be his name!

Elliott Charles
(Then you/he will have the option to use Charlie as a first name, in the unlikely event that you change your mind about Elliott or he doesn't like it.)

LeaLeander · 30/03/2016 16:49

Definitely a Matthew.

What an adorable child.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 30/03/2016 16:50

I'd go Elliot Matthew.

MissRabbitHasTooManyJobs · 30/03/2016 16:50

I have a 13 yr old Oliver ( Ollie ) and I love it :) tho obviously biased Grin

nemno · 30/03/2016 16:52

What NNs do Elliotts get called?

VolvicTouchofFruit · 30/03/2016 16:53

But I'd want a single t, for the middle names - Charles & James, but double t, for Matthew...

Matthew is my brother's name. You could do a lot worse Smile

TeenAndTween · 30/03/2016 16:53

He's your only one?
Then give him 2 middle names, you don't need to save them for younger sibling Smile

wonderingsoul · 30/03/2016 16:53

Elliot Mathew has a nice soft ring to it.

Elliot james is quite harsh and doesn't flow imo ( not that it matters lol)

Elliot Charles the same but sounds stiff.

VolvicTouchofFruit · 30/03/2016 16:53

I think he'd get El, or Els/Elz? I've only even known one, and that's what he got!

OP posts:
VolvicTouchofFruit · 30/03/2016 16:54

But wouldn't 2 middle names be too much? Yes, it took so much to get him, I'm so grateful and he'll fill our life with enough joy, and happiness!

Elliott Matthew is a great name! He's a beautiful little boy too. Congratulations Flowers

nemno · 30/03/2016 16:56

I was just wondering because there are a lot of Els and Ellies amongst the girls at the moment, does that matter?

Levatrice · 30/03/2016 16:58

If a nn is what you are worried about people will make one when he is a teenager ( or younger) whatever name he is given on his birth certificate. Just choose the names you like and forget about what might not happen anyway! el is not that bad considering what some teenage boys get nn'amed!!

courtwood · 30/03/2016 16:58

Matthew James, used to love Elliott until I overheard someone saying "Elliot ? shoulda called him Idiot and be done"now associate Elliot with idiot

ClarenceTheLion · 30/03/2016 16:58

My DS has two middle names, he rarely uses them. You're kind of over-thinking this, but I'm guilty of doing that too! Just pick anything. You can always change it again by deed poll if you change your mind.

loopylou6 · 30/03/2016 17:00

Deffo Elliot, he's a cutie

JocastaFarquhar · 30/03/2016 17:01

Elliott Matthew Charles. That sounds lovely.

Mind you I also like Aidan as I think that's unusual now. Congratulations!

bettyberry · 30/03/2016 17:03

there is nothing to stop you giving him 2 middle names!

My DS has 2 middle names because I was insistent he would have my grandfathers middle name (and my great grandad's and his dad's too) but it is terribly old fashioned! I don't think it has been popular since 1930 Shock

So he had his first name and 2 middle names. One of them being the family name.

All of the names you have chosen are good (not airy fairy) names so any combination of them will be great.

PhoenixReisling · 30/03/2016 17:03

Both my DC and I have two middle names plus a double barrelled surname to boot......so nothing wrong with two middle names Grin

I like what you have decided.....it sounds almost regal Smile

SeveredPixieBits · 30/03/2016 17:04

Elliot Charles is great. Done!

LordoftheTits · 30/03/2016 17:04

Elliott James!

IdaShaggim · 30/03/2016 17:05

Another vote for Matthew... He looks like a Matthew James to me!
