To spend £1000

I want a luxury spa and Michelin star restaurant for me and my DP. Live in the Midlands, so open to a lot of areas.

Looked at The Priory in Bath and The Grovesnor in Chester so far. I want utter decadence, but not sure whether these places will offer that. Upto £1000 for two nights.

Am I asking too much for the cost?

Lucknam Park near Bath.

I've been to le manoir - £1k wouldn't get you one night in a decent room with dinner;

Barnsley House.

HungryHorace · 28/03/2016 07:16

i thought that, Creeping...I did an AS to make sure she was who I thought she was.

cornishglos · 28/03/2016 07:21

Calcot is lovely but not 'decadance' or michelin stars - it has a pub!

namelessposter · 28/03/2016 07:35

Try Cliveden

Holeypurplesocks · 28/03/2016 07:44

I second Chewton Glen or consider Lime wood .

ginplease83 · 28/03/2016 07:46

The Manor House in castle Combe is good- try there. £1000 for 2 nights isn't that much for the sort of thing you are describing if you want Michelin food and good wine both nights. We always do this sort of thing for DH's birthday as he's a total foodie and loves it. I'd rather save the cash personally

parissont · 28/03/2016 07:53

I have been moved by your post to add that dh and I could afford all the hotels you've mentioned but we wouldn't as we'd end up having to spend time with people like your dp. If we want a lovely weekend we go and stay in friends houses.

Believeitornot · 28/03/2016 07:57

Most people in the UK let alone mumsnet would have £1k to spend on a short break.

I'm not sure MN is the place to ask and in such a rude way.

Believeitornot · 28/03/2016 07:58

would -not*
Epic typo

AppleSetsSail · 28/03/2016 08:04

OP, 'super poor women'? snort.

We spent a couple of nights at the Manor House over the Christmas holidays and it's certainly the most beautiful town I've ever seen in England. It's not that expensive - crucially, there is no spa. As you say, it is a foodie (and walker's) destination.

AnotherTimeMaybe · 28/03/2016 08:11

if you think I'm flaunting them wtf do you think of people with £45000 kitchens (swoon...) and private schools.

Hmm you compare the 1k waste of money in a spa to the education of a child?? Hmm

FauxFox · 28/03/2016 08:13

I'd second Lucknam Park near Bath - was a long while since I went but the spa is lovely - there is a swimming pool that goes outside and we went in winter so there was frost on the grass and we were in the warm Pool outside! Didn't have any treatments though - not keen on that sort of thing. The restaurant is nice too - tasting menu etc.

parissont · 28/03/2016 08:14

I went to le manoir and hated it. Full of fat red faced men with flash cars and golf club wives.

Yes I am a snob but also hate spending obscene amounts of money on food. Particularly when so many are struggling.

AppleSetsSail · 28/03/2016 08:15

Not exactly surprising.

WanttoFindWorkLifeBalance · 28/03/2016 08:22

Pennyhill Park has both spa and Michelin restaurant - went for v special occasion a couple of years ago and it was excellent.

DameSquashalot · 28/03/2016 08:22

I want to say something, but not sure what...

Because you've been so breathtakingly rude OP, I'm going to say, why don't you go fuck yourself.

I hear Liberty's hotel on the A5 is a good place for that Easter Wink

Annecyinyourpantsy · 28/03/2016 08:41

Ha ha in bed feeling ill but thanks OP this thread has cheered me up.

dontcallmethatyoucunt · 28/03/2016 08:52

luton Hoo will set you back about £800, but no stars on offer.

Sparklingbrook · 28/03/2016 09:03

This all brings to mind the couple in the Harry Enfield sketch who were 'Considerably richer than yow' Easter Grin

FeckOfffCup · 28/03/2016 09:07

What an utter self absorbed snob you sound OP, without even the class to apologise for your rudeness.

Wherever you go I hope you have a thoroughly shit time Easter Biscuit

LittleRedSparke · 28/03/2016 09:16

Didn't you get enough replies on your other post about this OP?

Ememem84 · 28/03/2016 09:30

jaimx86 it's in jersey. It will probably cost you £1000 for the weekend. Hotel is "only" £200 for a night. But flights from gatwick are pricey unless you fly easy jet which I doubt YOU will

creeping yes. Fish finger sandwiches. No biscuits. Why the biscuit. It happened. It was tasty. They were doing retro bar food. Hmm

scarlets · 28/03/2016 09:35

The St David's Hotel and Spa is great.
