Am I too old to enter 'beauty pageant'?

So every spring, the city in which I live in hosts a festival which is a celebration of the people who live here and they choose a 'Queen' to lead the festival and parades. Now typically the queen is a teenage girl, aged around 15-20 however I've applied to be this years queen for a few reasons which I think are valid. I think it's an excellent way to give back to people who have supported me in this city and our little business so much and to promote some of the amazing charities and causes we work with..

I'm 25 BTW and there's no age limit specified, but told some of my friends and they weren't very supportive? Some say I would make a lovely queen, would really enjoy etc and have the best time of my life though so unsure.

AIBU?

I've heard about people like this, but didn't think they really existed!! Wow.

KurriKurri · 23/03/2016 18:39

Where is this pageant? I want to enter it too. I am not far outside the age range (I'm 56) I can sing 'Let it Goooooooo' almost in tune once I've got a couple of gins down me.

I can dress up as many characters (The blonde one from ABBA in the tight satin trews, Hell Boy, a Great White Shark)

I am charitable, kind, an all round good egg etc etc. And I would use my power wisely because I have age and experience on my side.I have inner beauty, and that is more important than flawless skin, a good figure and nice hair. I look OK in swimsuit as long as it is one of those with built in spanx.

Nobody Lots of people have said I would make an excellent Queen

Who is voting for me?????

'KURRI FOR THE CROWN'

coughingbean · 23/03/2016 18:41

I did not like the elephant man comment either sparkling

coughingbean · 23/03/2016 18:42

Also, I vote Kurri!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 23/03/2016 18:44

I'm going to enter as Olaf

Sparklingbrook · 23/03/2016 18:44

#Vote Kurri

Floggingmolly · 23/03/2016 18:44

I think the crown has been taken, Kurri Sad. Op is a princess already, you see.
Princess Anna, with original hair. Neither you or I can top that...

GooseberryRoolz · 23/03/2016 18:45

'm used to acting in a royal manner too

Grin

I'm warming to this person. Sort of.

GooseberryRoolz · 23/03/2016 18:46

Do you have a successful events company though Kurri?

CatThiefKeith · 23/03/2016 18:48

I'd vote Kurri!

FairNotFair · 23/03/2016 18:49

Are you Deborah Meaden, OP?

novemberchild · 23/03/2016 18:49

We need a MN pageant. Winner gets a naice viper outfit made by Johnnie Boden.

Mr. Boden has not been approached yet, but I am sure he will be thrilled to be involved with this very successful first annual contest Grin

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 23/03/2016 18:49

In the interests of fairness, you should name the place.

It could be amazing. You can compete with the teenagers, then if one of them wins, I'll come and sing "Let it goooooo" Elsa-style with swishy blonde hair, you can fight the teenager for the crown and tell them how much more deserving you are as you've got life experience, and we'll start a food fight.

Then you can hand out business cards for your company. It'll be the best promotion ever.

Nobodyspecialanymore · 23/03/2016 18:51

So facially disfigured girls are somehow not meant to lead parades? My dd had a medical issue leading to facial disfigurement, and will eventually have cosmetic surgery to correct the damage done by the medically needed surgery. You sound vile, op. Beauty comes from the inside. I pity you, eventually you will come down to earth with a bump.
Fwiw, 25 is way too old.

Sparklingbrook · 23/03/2016 18:52

Will there be a sash november? And a tiara? I would enter.

MN could look past me not owning a a successful events company hopefully.

RudeElf · 23/03/2016 18:56

OP I think you should let it go....

Btw have you appeared on one of those channel 5 TV shows where people wearing lots of make up show off how much money they spend on tutus for their children milan and versace? Grin

FairNotFair · 23/03/2016 18:59

But what qualities would "Ms Mumsnet" need in order to triumph at the MN Pageant? This requires further thought...

KurriKurri · 23/03/2016 18:59

I don't exactly own a successful events company - yet. But how hard can it be? Children generally find me very scary and weird entertaining.

FairNotFair · 23/03/2016 19:00

... maybe a 999 or 101 challenge? The contestant is given a series of hypothetical predicaments, and has to decide whether to dial 999 or 101.

FairNotFair · 23/03/2016 19:02

Stand down, Kurri and Sparkling - we all know that PigletJohn will win.

KurriKurri · 23/03/2016 19:06

Can PigletJohn carry off this viper outfit ? Huh? Huh???

Fratelli · 23/03/2016 19:08

Wow so not only do you run an extremely successful events company, you're a beauty queen too! I'd really love to hear more about this. How do you find the time?

Flisspaps · 23/03/2016 19:10

RudeElf Grin* at let it go

OP - so you spend your days prancing about as a Disney Princess, and want to know if it's OK to be the town Queen for the day? Are you 5? Wink

Sparklingbrook · 23/03/2016 19:12

Do we have to do a speech? Is there a swimming costume round? I need to get prepared.

KurriKurri · 23/03/2016 19:14

Me too Sparkling - do you think it is too soon for my annual armpit shave?
