I didn't mean to! We were just on our way to go and look at wallpaper (exciting I know) and there was a little gallery and I suggested we have a look and...

...a handshake and a discount later, I LOVE it.

AIBU to ask what you have on your walls?

I don't have a lot of money to spend on art but like to pick up affordable things. My walls are covered and I have quite a few prints in frames waiting to go up but nowhere to put them! I get very attached to things and don't want to take them down to make room.

My late Dad painted as a hobby so I have some of his pictures and also a couple of prints made by friends.

I love lino-cuts by a local artist Liz Somerville and have bought a couple of repro prints off her. I wish I could afford the real thing. I live in Dorset and she depicts lots of local places that have meaning to me , and I just think they're really beautiful to look at.

My DH and I both love Stanley Chow's illustrations and bought each other a Mulligan and O'Hare ( Vic and Bob) and a James Bond print. They are just fun and make me smile.

This is in my lounge. It's massive so takes up a whole wall nearly.

I really want an H R Geiger print but they can be a bit....racy. We've got family photos & a painting by DS (guilt tripped into buying it at school fair). In the bathroom we have photos of storm fronts & lightning trees.

SqueegyBeckinheim · 19/03/2016 19:22

I have this, it's my great aunt's certificate that she received for entering the Paris 1924 olympics (she was a swimmer and a diver).

I love it both as a piece of family history and a piece of artwork.

I have this, this and a small original by this artist. A totally random collection, plus also a canvas photo of DS1 that my sister bought me and a picture DS1 did at school and had framed to raise money for the playground.

Conkers it's a Pete McKee on the side if Fagan's isn't? Makes me smile every time I drive past it. I also have a piece of tactile art of the cooling towers at Tinsley with braille notes - DD saw that and bought it at the Festival of the Mind in 2014.

Pandarific - I agree - saw another one of his just recently in a gallery in Meadowhall - but the manager was too busy talking to his friends to actually take any notice so he lost out on a sale.

Lurleene · 19/03/2016 19:29

Wow Squeegy - what a treasure!

Lovecat · 19/03/2016 19:30

I have a limited edition signed print of Ghost by Mark Wallinger. It's the only piece of 'proper' art I own and I love it.

I have a collage by Josie russell and a painting by Andrew southall www.epayments.co.uk/epages/es132772.mobile/?ObjectPath=/Shops/es132772 the Andrew southall my dad originally bought for himself (it's of somewhere very close to home and one of his favourite places) then got irritated by it being an abstract and as such not looking exactly like the place and as such just being wrong! So I now have it on my wall and love it!

NorbertDentressangle · 19/03/2016 19:35

I love some of those Liz Somerville prints Lurleene.

We haven't bought anything for ages but the last one was this from a gallery in Devon . I love rooftops. One of my projects for my degree, many many years ago, was about rooftops so I fell in love with this.

We have a few Group of 7 artists (Canadians around the 1920s) and hangers on. A proper large Thompson would go for half a million pounds these days! Not that we own one of those! But names like AY Jackson, H Mabel May, Maude Lewis, Emily Carr. Love them. I want to do a painting for our living room in our new house.

wonkylampshade · 19/03/2016 19:38

My bits by well known artists include some original Elizabeth Blackadder paintings, John Bellany prints and a drawing by Quentin Blake which I love.

Most of the things on my walls are picked up from people I think might go on to have be very interesting, so I have a lot of work by as yet unknown artists.

CamboricumMinor · 19/03/2016 19:39

It's lovely but it'd give me the creeps. I have two mass produced canvases, a canvas by my DS, a few photos of where I used to live in Scotland from a local photographer, an acrylic painting by my DD, 3 paintings by a local artist and several of my own photos which are waiting to go the shop to be sold, I've just framed them and needed somewhere to store them so put them on the wall. Apart from DH, we're all artistic in our own way.

Owllady · 19/03/2016 19:43

I've got my own stuff up Blush

bigmouthstrikesagain · 19/03/2016 19:43

I have several paintings by my brother on our walls, but this is my favourite, a sea and sky scape in oils, a gift for my 40th and it makes me very happy.
