Disability cuts

Name changed as obviously sensitive subject and don't want to put myself .i possibly don't know enough on this so am interested in other views . I may have only seen a small percentage - I'm insure ?
I have 2 sisters . One has had a stroke .which had devestated the family . She is quite well off yet has been upset she will loose a benifit that I believe is for her husband being her carer . Ok discussion to try to ease her fears it's very clear they don't need it . They can afford all care , holidays good standard of living on her payout . Number of property's all fully owned out right . Yet she thinks she should get it as some sort of compensation for the stroke .i can see why she would be angry with life but she doesn't need the money ? Surely it's right to be cut ?
My second sister works with adults with autism . She was saying they are struggling to spend the last part of their money entitlement before the next claim . I know they have holidays etc and their is still money over ( my sister accompanied many times )
So I'm wondering in some cases should the disability benifits be cut ?

When i can go back to work, i hope i will still qualify for pip as the money will be able to pay for transport to get there.
Right now it pays for taxis,a bus pass to get to the appointments i have every month, heat pads and cool and sooth pads.

Dollymixtureyumyum · 13/03/2016 09:18

Lots of people in work get PIP. It might help though if you ask for an access to work assessment. If you get support from them it with strengthen you case for PIP

have you looked in to a bus pass from your local LA to help with your travel, some people under 60 can get them free and can be a huge help

kali110 · 13/03/2016 20:30

I doubt id be entitled to it. I'm honestly just happy i got my pip. Now i'm suddenly recieving work capability questionaires, which apparently is quite normal after you've qualified for pip and are on esa.
If i could be at work i would be however having a potenially fatal immune disorder is kinds
Of stressing me out and is giving me headaches nearly everyday Sad

kali I work for a disability organisation who helps people to fill in forms and gives advice on benefits. We can make stuff up of course but our advisors are trained in form filling and know how to word things and can also ask you questions about things you struggle with that you might not have even thought off. It would be worth googling to see if one is near you are private message me and I can try and find out for you x x

JoffreyBaratheon · 13/03/2016 22:43

Dolly I got help from a group like your's with my son's PIP forms. We're still waiting to hear but I already have been told it is going to be a paper-based review, and I'm guessing that's due to the help we had.

I used to help people with DLA forms, years ago, and even I wasn't prepared for these new forms, and it is very hard to put yourself into the mindset of these forms. Someone with lots of experience of the system definitely can bring out all those things you didn't even realise were issues, yourself.

I realised when doing my forms, that we have all developed strategies around my son's autism and don't even realise the extent to which he constantly needs help and support. Speaking to an 'outsider' really brought it into focus.

kali110 · 13/03/2016 23:15

Thankyou that is so nice but i have already sent them off. I really struggled with them.i also was unable to fully do the mentalhealth part as i worry the forms may get lost!really dont understand why theyre asking again.
Feel like theyre only doing it because i went to a tribunal for pip Sad

Dollymixtureyumyum · 13/03/2016 23:16

Glad they helped Joffrey. Quite often in this country we always try to make the best of things and downplay things. That is the worst thing you can do with a PIP form. Having someone who's knows the process def helps. We are the tending to find also that if someone has had help from a disability organisation it usually results in a paper review only.

Reverse the cuts to Disability Benefits Petition

LuisSuarezTeeth · 15/03/2016 08:20

Signed that yesterday Dawn, it was at 77k then!

Dawndonnaagain · 15/03/2016 08:22

Crikey, going up fast then!

JoffreyBaratheon · 15/03/2016 10:28

Over 92,000. They need to reinstate DLA and get rid of PIP as well. Or at least change PIP so it has a range of questions that would pick up on things like MH issues, and the autistic spectrum.

LuisSuarezTeeth · 15/03/2016 22:12

98, 692!

twelly · 15/03/2016 22:16

A whole raft of cost cutting measures are likely to affect a large number of the population, it will not just be the disability allowances.

Samcro · 15/03/2016 22:19

but there will be an out cry about any other cuts

LuisSuarezTeeth · 15/03/2016 22:54

That's true twelly

This thread is about cuts to disability allowances though, IYSWIM.

Only 764 signatures need to force the debate.

Isn't it 100k and technically they will consider a debate? Glad this has topped it, they should give a date tomorrow.

PageStillNotFound404 · 16/03/2016 11:16
