To think changing bedsheets once a week is ott

Another week has whizzed past, feels like yesterday I changed all the beds. They look and smell fine, surely if I only change beds once every 2 weeks we will still all survive. I could spend 30 minutes with my feet up drinking tea once in a while. Aibu?

We have flat sheets under the duvets to save on washing - a few sets, works a treat!

madmother1 · 10/03/2016 13:30

There are 3 beds in our house. I do one a week in rotation. So every 3 weeks here and we've not died from it Grin

cestlavielife · 10/03/2016 13:40

Some people operate in different

Time zones where 5 minutes means something different...eg I have tried putting sheets on while pasta is boiling..I run out of time it's more than 12 minutes per bed.

cestlavielife · 10/03/2016 13:41

Getting a duvet cover on is a ten minute job

writingonthewall · 10/03/2016 13:49

every other week is fine. I do the kids one weekend and ours the next then back to the kids. we don't smell!

WhoaCadburys · 10/03/2016 13:50

Doesn't it depend on what you wear in bed? If naked, yes they need changing a lot. I go to bed wearing wearing lot of clothes (v sexy! but I get cold otherwise) so I doubt much penetrates all that on a weekly basis.

LeonoraFlorence · 10/03/2016 13:54

I do ours twice a week. Our kingsize bed, double bed x2 (DDs 1 and 2), toddler bed (DD3) cot (DD4). Of course with little ones this can be much more frequent anyway! Only change both spare beds if we have guests. It doesn't take long and I love fresh sheets. Also Hoover and air the pillows/duvets once a week.

willconcern · 10/03/2016 13:59

I change kids' bedding fortnightly ish - when they go to their dad's.

I change ours when I think it needs it - every 2-3 weeks.

I never iron bedclothes. What a waste of time.

I have also never hoovered either a mattress or a pillow. Or even considered doing that. Except for once when the catsgad fleas. Grin

We are all alive & healthy.

Peaceandloveeveryone · 10/03/2016 14:01

This thread has made me gear myself up to change our bedding this morning.

Whatthefreakinwhatnow · 10/03/2016 14:02

cestlavie you need a new technique! Wink

TeaBreak1 · 10/03/2016 14:03

I change ours twice a week Wednesday and Sunday, we all wear clean pj's to bed every night. The thought of washing them once week I can deal with but the fortnightly, monthly every few months washers thats just gross. We have clean towels and bath mats everyday also.

starry0ne · 10/03/2016 14:03

I have changed my sheets this morning.. Looking forward to bed tonight...

My most annoying thing is to strip the bed..Leave it to air then forget till I drag myself up to bed and have to make it when I want to get in it.

snottagecheese · 10/03/2016 14:04

Really? Yet another one of these threads? Yawn...

TeaBreak1 · 10/03/2016 14:04

I also wash the mattress and pillow protectors at the same time.

willconcern · 10/03/2016 14:09

Dust covers over pillows? Change sheets daily?

WTactualF is that all about? If we all did that the planet would already be dead.

I actually think to wash all sheets, duvets, towels daily is hugely irresponsible on a whole planet level.

allthingsred · 10/03/2016 14:11

Once a week here.
Just when I'm celebrating seeing the bottom of laundry basket. I go fill it again with bed sheets.

DoesAnyoneReadTheseThings · 10/03/2016 14:13

WhoaCadburys snigger Grin

PerryHatter · 10/03/2016 14:13

If you sleep in anything less than a dust cover, you're seriously risking your health.

Xmasbaby11 · 10/03/2016 14:20

Kids I do every week.

Master bedroom every fortnight.

SupSlick · 10/03/2016 14:21

I change ours once a week! It's my Sunday ritual unless I've had a midnight scoffing session & there's crumbs everywhere then I do it sooner.

And I steam clean the mattress every month.

I obviously have too much time on my hands...

snottagecheese · 10/03/2016 14:21

DUST COVERS? Okay, the world has actually gone mad. Also (damn it, I swore I wasn't going to rise to the bait, but...) washing your sheets and/or towels every day, especially if you're then tumble drying them as well, is utterly fucking irresponsible on an environmental level and actually makes me really angry.

Libitina · 10/03/2016 14:22

I shower or bath every night before I go to bed. I change my pj's every other day so I think I'm ok to change my bedding every 10 to 14 days. Though tbf I do it more often in the summer.

Sallystyle · 10/03/2016 14:23

Is a dust cover something different than a pillow case?

Am I meant to have a pillow case and a dust cover? Hmm

ExConstance · 10/03/2016 14:23

I've far better things to do with my time than constant washing and ironing. I'm surprised that anyone would boast about wasting their life on doing twice as much of this than necessary ( and I'm afraid ironing bed linen is just unbelievable to me) No one ever lay on their death bed thinking they wished they had done more housework.

TeaBreak1 · 10/03/2016 14:24

I'm shocked at people admitting to only changing their beds monthly and fresh towels daily is a must. You wipe all round your bit and pieces with it then leave it damp on a towel rail for 24 hours breeding germs and whos to say your get the same towel twice.
