To think changing bedsheets once a week is ott

Another week has whizzed past, feels like yesterday I changed all the beds. They look and smell fine, surely if I only change beds once every 2 weeks we will still all survive. I could spend 30 minutes with my feet up drinking tea once in a while. Aibu?

Standard double and I find duvets quite easy. I just don't want to evict the residents.

King here I find duvet ok, the mattress is a bitch though. Too thick, total pain, had to buy super king sheets in the end Shock

Ooh look a Star

Pipbin · 14/03/2016 22:55

King sized here which I don't find a problem.
I have help.

I change my sheets once a week, but thats only cos there's nothing I like more than getting a nice bath, clean PJs and into a nice clean bed. Every Sunday I do ours.

There once was a time when I went weeks if not months between changes Blush and I didnt explode or die

each to their own

A lot of helpful cats on this thread Grin

LumelaMme · 15/03/2016 09:32

Once a fortnight. Vile boring job only made bearable by getting into a lovely clean bed.

I do the inside-out corner trick with the duvet, and I've written all over the almost-but-not-quite-square duvet so I know which edges are the sides and which the ends. That has saved some swearing over the years.

Who wants to come in with me on my Black Cat Laundry Service? We could take it to Dragons Den.

Lweji · 15/03/2016 09:55

Not me. All mine does is fill the sheets with black hair. (yesterday)

MissRabbitHasTooManyJobs · 16/03/2016 06:15

My ginger mog has been banned from the bedroom due to hair issues!!
He just moves and it flies off, he's almost 18 and the sod still acts like he's a kitten Grin

BarbaraofSeville · 16/03/2016 06:38

Haven't RTFT but I see the cat pics and say that many a time I go to change the sheets and one of the cats is asleep on the bed and I think fuck it, I'll do it later. Sometimes it is quite a challenge finding the bed cat free.

I also feel the need to point out that there is another thread running now in AIBU where the OP sends hers out at a cost of £115 pw.

limitedperiodonly · 16/03/2016 21:06

I don't hoover when the cat is asleep BarbaraofSeville. That doesn't give me a lot of scope.

I'm going to search that £115 a week thread because my husband does it much cheaper. He gets trade rates though.

OK. So courtesy of MN I vacuumed the mattresses yesterday. Not sure what I was expecting, but there was no great change. Might be as they are primary school children with mattresses under three year olds, but I was morbidly expecting gore! Shall drop my expectations for when I do mine.

NightWanderer · 18/03/2016 10:13

Ah, but did you time yourself loosechange?

loosechange · 18/03/2016 17:56

Bugger! I shall have to go back and do them again. Grin

millimat · 18/03/2016 19:41

loosechange feel free to time yourself doing my sheets instead!

MissRabbitHasTooManyJobs · 19/03/2016 06:49

I posted earlier in thread about changing my dc bedding 3 times a week.
Realised that it wasn't because it was dirty but just looked creased.
So.... Have taken a MN tip and ironed the bedcovers whilst they're on and it takes 2 mins!
I'm so proud that they're being changed today with mine, once a week.
It's a small step but massive for me...
