Since my husband earns over £200k income (not a stealth boast but reason why I'm thinking this is just a piss poor effort! )

I know that tomorrow Facebook is going to be full of wonderful breakfasts in bed, beautiful bouquets, shiny happy people - and I'll be there with my £10 bunch of diesel smelling crysthanenums.

On the other hand I'm so so lucky to have the DC that I do (for many years we didn't know if it would happen or not) so most of all I will be feeling v v happy to be celebrating Mother's Day at all!

It's not even mothers day yet, sheesh!

Mothers Day is a commercialised day there to guilt trip us all into buying over priced flowers etc.

You have by your own admission the things most important for mothers day - your children. That's worth far more than even the poshest bouquet

you can get really pretty flowers for £10 but I don't know what garage flowers look like never purchased from there.

At least he thought of you OP, even if it was a lazy effort. I never get flowers I usually buy them myself (all year round) or I have to ask him to buy me some, he's not romantic, ive come to terms with it. my kids are wise though they often get their dad to buy me flowers at least they mean it.

I don't like supermarket flowers because they lack variety, although I still appreciate them if theyre gifted to me., I like exotic looking flower arrangements, if my husband got me some without me asking id be soo pleased, until that day arrives i'll get my own lol

All the Facebook boasts and selfies and photos won't show the kids getting up at fucking-mad-o'clock, throwing orange juice about your lovely White Company bedsheets (the only lovely stuff you own because all your cash goes on day trips and new shoes for the Kraken) and Husbands muttering "I fucking hate this shit" under their breath whilst preparing said hearty breakfast.

I'm a Mother, I have a Mother. I will spend my morning taking the Kraken to a rugby tournament, the afternoon cooking a roast dinner and the evening drinking wine. The words "what the fucking fuck" will escape my lips at least 4 times during the length of the day and, if I'm lucky, come 7pm I will tuck in my two children knowing that Mothers Day is never about me, or my own Mother. It's about them. Acknowledging their existence. Celebrating the fact that I'm fortunate enough to be a Mother. A bunch of flowers from a man I love means nothing. The gift of being a Mother is the only shit that matters tomorrow.

Just cancelled Mother's Day dinner out as I'd think of a million things better to spend money on. Spending the day with DP and DS doing free stuff.

My 6 year old is desperate to get me something while at his dad's today. His arsehole of a father has made it perfectly clear he will be getting him nothing to give me. He thinks it's a way to punish me when infact it just hurts ds. I'd be over the moon with some flowers picked out the garden just so my son didn't feel disappointed when he arrives home

It depends if it's an oversight due to life getting in the way or if he's like that all the time I suppose.

TimeToMuskUp - you just made me laugh out loud, last year DS managed to spill orange juice all over the bedside table AND the sheets (not White Company though!) and ate half my chocolate brioche!

I bought my mum £10 flowers from Morrison. They are lovely and she was very pleased with them.

My £1 bunch of daffodils that dd picked out for me today mean the world to me.

??? If you want different flowers why not just ask for them???? I also have a high family income and I'm quite happy with my flowers from Morrissons which my 2 year old loved choosing. Plus the single daffodil from nursery which I like more as such a happy flower and she was thrilled to give it to me, but I gather the cheapie darts weren't on sale today.

It's not Mother's Day here tomorrow, so I know that I won't be getting anything.
