Thank you mumsnet but it's over

Been a poster for the last 8 years and it's been good.

However recently things have changed.

Far too many adverts seem to pop and it's got too commercial.

Tonight there's a really nasty mil thread that consist of posters slagging off their mothers/mils for doing the ironing FFS.

Earlier posters defended a paedophile footballer.

Anyway time out and sadly end of an era for me.

I actually can't believe half the threads here as so ridiculous.

It's sad but the site isn't what it was.

Perhaps there should be a ' Serious Debate' topic. As AIBU is largely made up of made up stuff and joke stuff?

People who love a heated debate could get on with it and people who don't could hide it.

I'm a bit scared to do this on this thread but ... Don't you dare leave, Garlic.

Yes. It could be called Master Debaters

Sparklingbrook · 04/03/2016 12:55

I thought it might be good. People would know there would be a debate, it wouldn't have turned into one half way through a reasonably innocuous thread. From the start everyone would know what they are in for.

ExConstance that PIL thread about them looking after our baby at a wedding is mine and you have completely misrepresented it. I have not said one negative thing about my PILs at any point, it's not 'a few hours' it's from 2pm til midnight, and my issue is with breastfeeding not with my PIL. Why you've chosen to make shit up I really don't know.

Well there are certainly plenty of Master Baiters around.

A 'serious debate' topic would just be full of serious debaters though.

I like seeing the views of everyone, the most interesting and mind changing views and threads (for me) are the ones that are genuinely from the heart and from personal experience.

I like a good debate and could argue for hours about something if I truly believe I'm right, but I also love to learn and MN is a wonderfully diverse place for learning about things I have no contact with in my everyday life.

I do have to take a break every now and then when I get sucked in too deep to the MN void, and I constantly name change as I am a chronic over-sharer.

Master baiters is the goady topic

Sparklingbrook · 04/03/2016 13:05

I don't think you do see the views of everyone though because many are opening threads, seeing the content, rolling their eyes and hiding it.

I think that many people lured to an area marked'debste' might labour under the mistaken belief that there is a possibility of swaying people's opinions.

A place where you can just proclaim an entrenched viewpoint may not really be best labelled 'debate'.

'master bait ers' far better for that.

If only all the goady fuckers and trolls could be corralled safely in one place.

I'd be happy with that.

Feenie, are you saying that if the age of consent was changed to 15, he would no longer be a paedophile? That doesn't make sense.

Paedophilia is the sexual attraction to prepubescent children. This is the established psychiatric definition.

And I guess 'master haterz' for the new flounce area.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 04/03/2016 13:26

I think it's quite entertaining Sparkling?
Though mixing a discussion about paedophilia in with the rest makes it all slightly weird.

But I know that it was only a thread on that along with some pretty standard MIL bashing threads that were the reasons cited for the OP's proposed flounce so I guess you can see how it happened

Report
Sparklingbrook · 04/03/2016 13:29

There seems to be a lot of different discussions going on at once Juggling, I think the OP may have actually flounced. If not they have probably hidden the thread. Grin

Poor old OP.

I imagine her as a leaf, falling from the tree. And I send my fondest wishes for her happiness after her.

As a possibly NNT thinker (attention deficit traits?) I'm quite comfortable with a kind of plaited thread Sparkling? No more confusing to me than life generally or something like that?! And more interesting than otherwise Smile

It's nice to have humour to lighten a thread where people are dropping heavy hints about posters that piss them off IMO.
