Been a poster for the last 8 years and it's been good.

However recently things have changed.

Far too many adverts seem to pop and it's got too commercial.

Tonight there's a really nasty mil thread that consist of posters slagging off their mothers/mils for doing the ironing FFS.

Earlier posters defended a paedophile footballer.

Anyway time out and sadly end of an era for me.

I actually can't believe half the threads here as so ridiculous.

It's sad but the site isn't what it was.

op download ad blocker, you ad it onto your extensions if you use google chrome, works for youtube ads as well.

I cant fix the rest of your issues with the site though but say opinions are like arseholes everyone has one.

It was me that wrote 'thick' earlier. I really should have used the phrase 'limited insight' - or actually a far longer phrase - it would have been closer to what I meant. But I'm on my phone and , bloody hell, it takes a while to type.
I think that is why many posts are quite curt these days.
I know mine are massively shorter than ye olde laptoppe days.

For me it's the uncertainty as to whether a poster genuinely is quite limited in insight or is a troll trawling. I used to err on the side of 'engage with a good heart'. Post-Jeremy, I feel hesitant.

Though I have trouble sticking to ANY of that ... Which I will see as human fallibility rather than hypocrisy.

I've been around since I was pregnant with DS who's nearly nine now, ( under various guises as I'm a Master-sorbiqueter, I WILL torture that pun until it bleeds).

I used to get a lot more invested in threads but I'm a bit like Sparkling now, see a thread that interests, compose a long and erudite reply, then by the time I get round to posting it it's all moved on and everyone's tearing chunks out of eachother and I run away.

I have had some fantastic advice and support on here though, especially regarding DD's SN, and without the understanding, compassion and knowledge of the Women on the boards would probably have cracked up last year.

Plus without MN guiding me the pregnant Lurcher stray who turned up at my door would have had a very different outcome than the very happy one she did.

There's some dicks around, always were, I've had my arse handed to me on a plate a couple of times under different names when I probably didn't deserve it, but you pick yourself up and dust yourself down and learn your lesson.

Undoubtedly MN has been a force for good in my life, it's got me through some grim times, I once had an outing that caused some RL major repercussions but even that sought to demonstrate that someone I knew was actually a massive dick and best steered clear of.

Ps excuse any typos, New phone and not only does it hate me, it appears to have a dislike for the whole English language.

As an aside, this thread directed me to the awful desert shoe thread and I've just wasted another hour of the day laughing at posters' comments.

I've been on Mumsnet since 2004 I think or maybe 2006, can't remember but a long time. I have lost count of the number of people who suddenly announce that it's not the same as it used to be and they have to take a break blah blah.

From my perspective the site is fluid, always changing, never the same, and I am mystified has to how anybody can think otherwise or feel that suddenly it's not what it used to be. Then again I dip in and out and maybe other people are just over-invested in it. It's only a bloody website, you pick and choose what you want to get from it and ignore the rest of the crap and the idiots you don't agree with.

Sorry for derailing the thread, but my inner pedant needed to get out. Plus if you're going to accuse people of paedophilia, you need to get the terms correct, it's a serious accusation. I'll stop talking now!
