Playdate DCs haven't been picked up. Should I drop them off?

So a mum from my DCs school asked me to have her two DCs today as her two are the same age/in the same class as my two youngest.
The DCs have been here a couple of times before but usually I arrange this with their dad and he picks them up.
But he is away on business and so their mum asked me to take them today as a favour whilst she is in work.

I've had them since 9 this morning. She was supposed to pick them up at 6:30. I called her at 7 and 7:30 and 8 and 8:15 but she's not replying. I have text her a number of times and nothing.

My DCs should be in bed. Her eldest isn't bothered but her youngest is getting upset saying that she should be in bed. I haven't told them that their mum should have picked them up by now.

Should I go round to theirs? I don't want to worry the DCs if their mum isn't there when we get there. But I would like to know where she is. So would I be unreasonable to go round there?

Can you contact the dad even if he is away? He can call round and see if he can locate his wife or at least give you her work number.

PeggyBlomquist · 21/02/2016 20:37

There was a similar thread on here last year where it turned out the mum had been rushed to hospital so it is definitely not unreasonable to try and locate her. Is it going to distress the children if you load them into the car and the house is all dark?

ohforfoxsake · 21/02/2016 20:38

Have you someone with you so you can leave the kids and pop round?

icelollycraving · 21/02/2016 20:38

Go round there but not with kids in case something has happened to their mum/you have a row.

yummumto3girls · 21/02/2016 20:39

Do you have the dads contact details so that he could chase mum aswell? Seems like a very long day. There is either something wrong or she is taking the piss! I would give it another half hour and put them all to bed!

Gileswithachainsaw · 21/02/2016 20:39

have you checked Facebook/messenger/WhatsApp to see if she has posted

rightguard · 21/02/2016 20:39

Wow she's either massively taking the piss or somethings happened. Do you have the dad's number?

ghostyslovesheep · 21/02/2016 20:40

2 hours is a long time to sit around waiting OP - have you called her DH or her work?

MillionToOneChances · 21/02/2016 20:40

I would phone her work, her husband and, if it gets too late and you can't reach her, the police. I'd give it another hour or two though. Could you lend the kids PJs and include them in your bedtime routine?

She's blown any future free childcare unless she's got a cracking excuse.

notapizzaeater · 21/02/2016 20:40

Is she doing something (nurse/doctor/fireman) sort if job where she might not be able to get away ?.

Earlybird · 21/02/2016 20:41

If necessary, could you let them sleep over and then take them to school in the morning? Though presume they don't have uniforms with them......

I'd be worried too.....

teeththief · 21/02/2016 20:41

Do you have a partner who can go to the house without the children? I also agree with phoning the dad to let him know. I hope all is ok

londonrach · 21/02/2016 20:41

Id be worried something has happened unless she has history of this.

Knitmyshickers10 · 21/02/2016 20:41

I would give them a time limit of say 9pm and either put them all to bed or go around their home and see if she's there. Hope she turns up soon!

Lauren15 · 21/02/2016 20:42

Do you know where she works? Have you had any contact with her during the day? Perhaps she has a poor signal at work.

BitOutOfPractice · 21/02/2016 20:42

Can you leave yours at home (if you have someone else there) and check on her house?

In short YANBU

MillionToOneChances · 21/02/2016 20:42

Actually, I'd probably phone social services safeguarding team before the police. As a PP has said, does she have the kind of job where she could be genuinely stuck and unable to access her phone? Hard to imagine not being able to get someone to send a message, though.

chocdonutyy · 21/02/2016 20:43

I'd try the dad and where she works too. In the meantime maybe get all the kids settled in jammies and under blankets if you have spares, something to keep them occupied but not lively. Hopefully you'll be in contact soon. Has she done anything like this before?

Recordmirror · 21/02/2016 20:43

I'm worried about upsetting the DCs if their mum isn't home. I have tried messaging the dad on Facebook for alternative contact details but he hasn't got back to me either.

Does she live nearby, can you get someone to go to her house?

yorkshapudding · 21/02/2016 20:45

I agree if you have a DH/DP at home I would get him to go round to the house and see if she's there. Don't take the kids in case something has happened or she isn't there. If not, can you ask a neighbour to watch the kids and go yourself?

ohforfoxsake · 21/02/2016 20:45

I agree, PJs, movie, get them snuggled down and get your you get to bed. Hope everything is ok.
