A couple I know who think they're the dogs gonads have just bought the ugliest house.

Many of you will say I'm lame and need to get a life. But this has put me in quite a good mood!

That is all.

I live in an ugly 70 pebble dashed terrace house.

But it is lovely and warm (even with mahoosive windows) and a lot easier to look after than a 'period' property.

That's a nice house and I can't see what's ugly about it?

Anyway Georgian and Victorian houses might be " pretty" but they cost a shitload of money to run and maintain. I've got better things to spend it on than having an attractive house. I'd rather have it ugly on the outside and beautiful on the inside.

Better than being ugly on the inside eh op?

I wanted to see the penis shaped house but am beginning to suspect that was made up...

Personally I like it, it's like many other houses and will be fairly roomy inside.

I also like Victorian houses but my experience is that they can be big and drafty and need a big outlay to stop them being so. Having lived in them I wouldn't choose one unless I had a salary to match the need for updating.

I live in a similar house to the one posted and I love it. i do t think it is ugly.

I think people are underestimating the importance of an attractive house

Personally, I'd say it was you who is over investing in the "ugliness" or otherwise of a house - That's not on the top of my priority list when starting the search for a property.
The fact you've then linked to a perfectly normal, not even ugly house, makes your posts even odder Hmm

Get off the thread then! Think the techy people live in such a house. Good luck to you. Not my cup of tea.

These are nice houses

Or are you poking fun about them being unable to afford a pre 1940s place?
If so it doesn't make you a very nice person. Just saying.

I grew up in a beautiful (on the outside) Victorian house and the ceilings leaked, it was very moldy, it had a squirrel infestation for a time, and was very cold. My parents couldn't afford to keep it up, tbh.

As an adult I live in a 1950s-era house that is nothing to look at from the outside but is warm, dry, has lovely high ceilings, big rooms, and is not very expensive to keep up.

So I do think YABslightlyU.

PaulAnka-I wouldn't mind a schlonghouse as long as it was oriented horizontally rather than vertically. I might even include the balls and use one as a library and the other as a sewing room.

I think people are underestimating the importance of an attractive house.

I think some people are too shallow to see that the outside of a house may by unimportant to others.

Yes those are nice houses....my Nan lived in one on a pension. At times it was warmer outside than inside. Not always a great choice unless you have the cash. I guess you do and are being snooty,

PaulAnkaTheDog · 19/02/2016 16:48

See, I think those are uglier. Fwiw, I don't live in a house like those posted. I live in an old, converted cottage on a cobbled road. Now my house is pretty. Grin

You're right, you do need to get a life Grin

And being a bit nicer wouldn't hurt either.

You do realise that you will have offended a lot of mumsneters by putting that up, don't you OP? It's just a simple house that could easily look more attractive. I live in a house that you would probably deem as attractive but I certainly wouldn't be gleeful about someone buying an ordinary house. Your a bit weird, tbh. Confused

Maybe they wanted to make sure they didn't overextend their budget and wanted to have plenty of money in the bank each month. They might prefer to enjoy the nicer things in life rather than be all fur coat and no knickers.

Do geeks only live in such houses then? Or did you mean tetchy...?

If that house is anything like the one I lived in which looked like that, it was fantastic- always warm, hardly needed the heating on, great big windows at the back, room to convert, nothing to dislike from an inhabitant's point of view. It didn't have curb appeal but I wouldn't be smug about their choice, it's actually a very good one if you are looking for value for money/livability.

1930s/40s. And yes I know when the war ended! The shift in different styles started from the 50s I'd say. Not a fan - but it shouldn't offend if someone says they don't like your style of house! Why are people getting defensive?

If the outside of a house isn't that important then why do estate agents not use the exterior as the main search photo on ugly houses?!
