Surely the point of all that is that we are putting it on our own bodies? I for one am not running round the internet deciding that strangers should have a tattoo across their chest or have red nail varnish on 8 of their 10 nails.

I like being pale. Pale and interesting. If you have naturally darker skin I like that too. But fakery is just a bit off putting. I don't get the obsession for tanning.

I think i've found a nee business idea. Stick on knee patches for when you want to wear a dress but dont want to world to know you have knees. Clearly i'll make a killing because theyre an essential piece of kit.

We all make our own choices regarding our own appearance, I'm genuinely intrigued why some people feel the need to comment on other peoples. Well, in the negative anyway

I'm ginger. I often wear tights: partly because I don't have legs like that but primarily because I live in Scotland. I sure as he'll don't / won't when in a warm climate or just because I am pale.

Oh and I have tried fake tans, including very expensive, gradual, fair. Some look okay. Most look ridiculous. None but the very subtlest gradual looked 'natural' and I doubt that would be sufficient for the tan fans ruptured

I live in a hot country and when I got here I thought "My God I can't reveal my 43 year old legs!"

I spent a week in stupid cotton trousers and then saw all the other women baring their blotchy middle aged legs and looking damn attractive whilst doing it and thought what the heck!

I might draw happy, smiley faces on my knees next time I go out with them bare. This will probably be the one day in June when the English climate approaches warmth.
