To think that Victoria Beckham looks plain daft?

She's in New York to launch her latest collection and has been papped strutting out of hotels in some dreadful outfits. All can be viewed in the Daily Mail but for those of you who don't like to click I will post a few and you can tell me if I'm BU.

I think people like Donatella and Victoria Beckham, because they have serious money are able to decide to do whatever takes their fancy within reason. Money talks and opens doors that would be shut to anyone else.

iPaid · 15/02/2016 00:47

We'll it would appear VB has ignored my comments and has gone along with those of you said I was BU. Here she is at the end of her NY fashion show

I know, Garlic! I'm sat here in my boot cut jeans, mum boots and Next blouse (circa 2003) trying to help the girl out!

Here she is celebrating her 'triumphant' collection

Grin committing crimes against scarves

MissFlight · 15/02/2016 01:12

As for VB, my grandad had a jumper just like that.

(the ghost writer is the person who writes the book!)

Of course it is. D'oh! Blush

squoosh · 15/02/2016 10:24

David's scarf is silly but he has a long way to go before he reaches Lenny Kravitz's level! Grin

The thing is we can chat and speculate on her and not really know anything but the video of her leaving the hotel is there in black and white and goodness how weird !!

mpje · 15/02/2016 11:36

Thanks OP she looks fab, I haven't been to her shop in a while - I must go visit again soon.

She's a very successful business woman, highly respected in the fashion industry, beautiful, smart, was praised for her acting in spice girls move (the only one) with a stunning husband. Its sad that so many women like to attack her because of these.

PortobelloRoad · 15/02/2016 13:08

If she designs her collection then I'm Queen of Sheba . It is a ludicrous nonsense . Some other poor sap is and getting no credit.

VB is just as qualified to be a fashion designer as Tom Ford or Vera Wang (she has an art history degree and he has an architecture degree), neither of them have trained and they work with teams (even the first in their class at St Martins work with teams).

I know for a fact that VB is very hands on with her work and works as hard as everyone else. You get nowhere in high fashion by sticking your name on a label. She is a seriously reckoned designer now, this isn't Coleen Rooney for Littlewoods were talking about.

As for people working for her, yeah, that's how it works, most top fashion designers work under someone and do a lot of "uncredited" work for some time before launching on their own. Or they do it forever which is also fine, not everyone can be a superstar, they're no different to backing singers/session musicians.

It is not like being a ghost writer at all.

MitzyLeFrouf · 15/02/2016 13:16

I bet she's furious she launched a cheapo celeb perfume years ago before her fashionista reincarnation. By rights her fashion line should rake it in with a £80-ish perfumes but the cheap and naff Beckham fragrance line is on sale in Superdrug for less than a tenner.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 15/02/2016 13:27

Her perfume was actually in our local poundstretcher. I bought it and thought it was alright for the price!

Squoosh Lenny is actually wearing a throw in that pic. I have one similar for our sofa Grin

ApproachingATunnel · 15/02/2016 13:40

I want that jumper with extra long sleeves for my freezing hands!

Floisme · 15/02/2016 13:48

Love the orange trousers and yellow top. And the oversized jumpers, except for that beige one she wore to her show.

I like a big scarf.

The shoes look silly.

I've never seen anyone who has actually met her write a bad word about her.

DinosaursRoar · 15/02/2016 14:06

If VB wasn't involved in the designing of her clothes, then there wouldn't have been the notable (well, noted in the fashion press) dip in style and quality of her collection that was designed when she was heavily pregnant/had just had DC4 and slipped a disc - but the blip into "it's all a bit highstreet and dull" that year was noticable enough for a lot of fashion mags to comment.

BTW - the sleeves - was at the dentist this morning with DCs (and the dentist was running v late) so got to read lots of fashion magazines - seems she's not the only one doing the long or wide at the bottom sleeves, they will be everywhere this summer and next winter - they are called "statement sleeves" and are very much a fashion thing.

GarlicBake · 15/02/2016 14:46

Yes, the silhouette's changing from wider at the top, skinny at the bottom, to a smaller, neat top and wide at the bottom with looser & more flowing lines. Moving things down along the sleeves is a kind of a gentle introduction :)

It's been happening for ages but, until about halfway through last year, was fairly fashion forward. There will lots of those origami skirts around this year giving volume below the waist. I love it! (Sadly, am too fat to wear it well but I'm already experimenting with ways to make it work.)

Floisme · 15/02/2016 14:53

Anything that means more sleeves is ok by me Smile

iPaid · 15/02/2016 16:49

I don't think women dislike her because they envy her. There are many highly successful women out there who don't seem to come in for any criticism. Personally I don't consider her beautiful,

Behooven · 15/02/2016 17:03

That's Lenny's willie-warmer

DinosaursRoar · 15/02/2016 17:07

I like the stripes in that dress she's wearing with the blue coat (or is it a thick cardie?). Are we doing stripes as well this year? Stripes are good, I can get out all my Bretton tops and look like I've made an effort...

GarlicBake · 15/02/2016 17:20

I loved that, too, Dino. And the coat! Oooh, the coat! Not something I can copy, which is a bummer. It's one of her own.

PortobelloRoad · 15/02/2016 18:34

Why is it "yeah right" that someone would go to a shop Confused?
