To think that Victoria Beckham looks plain daft?

She's in New York to launch her latest collection and has been papped strutting out of hotels in some dreadful outfits. All can be viewed in the Daily Mail but for those of you who don't like to click I will post a few and you can tell me if I'm BU.

Like Holly Willoughby. It looks odd for some reason to see her smoking.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 13/02/2016 16:47

Not a clue behoven what I do know is that she was stood directly behind my ill and underweight 11yo the were almost back to back and my daughter was wider than VB she looked very ill indeed.

However I have only ever been in a room with her on 4 occasions and on all occasions she was plesant nice and very interesting to converse with and was dressed very nicely indeed the outfits were always appropreate for the occasion.

deregistered · 13/02/2016 19:27

I met her once - she was really friendly and polite.

No I'm not a fangirl, it was through a business associate for a charity event!

I like these outfits but not a fan of clumpy 90s shoes.

A1Sharon · 13/02/2016 19:53

I have never heard or seen anything about her being anything other than utterly lovely to anyone who has ever met her.
I have never heard or seen anything about her being a bitch. Id say she is indeed a nice person-lets cut back on the 'hilarious' PR angle though?
However, it is very hard to like someone who acts like such a complete bellend. Her posing. Practiced for hours, and used over, and over, and over-just fucking stand normally!! And the video of her walking out of the hotel this week...what a plonker.
I mean, you just cannot respect someone that gives that much of a shit in how she walks out of a hotel. Confused Or cares so desperately about how she looks/appears/is papped.
Re:the smoking. Lucy Cave once commented that it is hard to explain how thin VB is because she is usually standing beside similarly thin/tiny people, ie, other celeb/her kids. If she was beside normal folk a bit more, you would see the difference more. She also said that she smoked a lot. That's a few years ago though.
Although I don't hate her I do hate her whole fake persona. It's just pathetic. Her 'focused/business' pose-finger tips under chin is particularly annoying, along with the previously mentioned 'invisible phone'. Am I the only one who has noticed the phone?!

Chipstick10 · 13/02/2016 20:25

Astonishing!!!!! Just how seriously does she take herself,? It's cringe inducing

GarlicBake · 13/02/2016 21:02

'invisible phone'

I thought she had an itchy ear, or maybe a walkie-talkie thing Grin Hadn't noticed she does it all the time ... but now I have!

squoosh · 13/02/2016 21:09

I've noticed the invisible phone thing! She often does it when on a red carpet with David, acts as though she's adjusting an earring. she must think the angles look good or sumfin'.

With that figure (and after 4 kids, too) she can wear absolutely anything and look brill imo.

TwatMagnet · 13/02/2016 21:24

All fashionistas do weird posey stuff though don't they? It's all smoke and mirrors - they're selling an impossible image and fair enough, that's the business they're in. These things trouble me not at all as fashion has always been a mystery to me. I can't look at Anna Wintour and those sunglasses without a Hmm and a [wtf] Grin

candykane25 · 13/02/2016 21:38

The ear thing, to me it's like a prince Charles fiddling with his cuff links thing. A nervous thing. Just what do you do with your arms when in front of cameras?
Also it could be an anxiety thing, like a hypnotic tapping therapy.
It is also almost like a body blocking thing too. Not folding your arms but putting your arm up in front of your body.

GarlicBake · 13/02/2016 21:42

While wasting some time photo-stalking the Beckhams just now, I saw a snap of David talking to Wintour ... without her shades Shock I was astonished I recognised her, as I think it's the first time ever (she had her sunnies in her hand.) What this proves is that a signature haircut & tilt of the chin are just as strong trademarks as ever-present sunglasses!

I reckon VB's ear-fiddling is just another addition to her brand - alongside the slight scowl, two-thirds turn, cheekbone bronzer (which I'm going to try and copy), cute nose (which I envy) and Mona Lisa smirk. It must be bloody exhausting, being a brand!

She does smile, btw. Just not while posing - there are very few photos.

GarlicBake · 13/02/2016 21:46

"I am just nibbling while giving the kids all their breakfasts. And while that's all happening, they will have a spelling test or a times table test," she said.

"We have times tables on Post-its all over the fridge. So we are quizzing each other in the morning, and we make it into a little bit of a game."

Nobody could ever accuse the woman of lacking drive!

Right, that's me all Beckhamed out Wink

TheDowagerCuntess · 13/02/2016 21:58

I don't think putting effort in to being thin is necessarily bad. Surely being complacently fat is worse, given that the UK currently has an obesity problem, not an anorexic one?

Totally agree. I certainly have to put in an effort to stay slim (I will never be thin!). Not all of us are lucky enough to be able to eat whatever we want all day, every day, and stay slim/thin/skinny.

whattheseithakasmean · 13/02/2016 22:01

Me too, on Mumsnet it sometimes seems it's a crime to admit you have to curb your eating in order to stay thin - everyone seems to be naturally thin. Well, are nearer 50 than 40, I have to work to keep the middle age spread at bay. It's worth it, though.

feistywtf · 13/02/2016 22:06

GarlicBake · 13/02/2016 22:09

the UK currently has an obesity problem

Depends how you define 'problem'. Obesity rates among UK children have been falling for a long time, and stopped rising among adults about 10 years ago. I was looking at the charts for this last night.

You might like to consider the points made in this article: www.spectator.co.uk/2015/06/the-big-fat-myths-of-our-obesity-epidemic/.

Nothing to do with the Beckhams!

WilLiAmHerschel · 13/02/2016 22:42

Me too, on Mumsnet it sometimes seems it's a crime to admit you have to curb your eating in order to stay thin - everyone seems to be naturally thin.

I don't think saying you personally watch what you eat or even starve yourself is a bad thing, but saying every thin person goes hungry is a false generalisation.

Also I was thinking about this earlier, but if you say thin people work hard to stay thin, well surely it comes down to perspective and stuff. I'm thin and most of the time I don't over eat and that is partly why I am thin. To me that isn't working hard or watching what I eat, it's just normal. It's not the same as counting calories or purposefully avoiding certain foods and stuff, but it's not being naturally thin either is it? Because if I went and ate lots of cake and stuff everyday I'd gain weight.

Sorry I think I've gone off on one and I've not mentioned Victoria once...until now.

WilLiAmHerschel · 13/02/2016 22:42

(Although it's bad for you to starve yourself).

Chipstick10 · 13/02/2016 22:48

How tiresome having to count calories every second of the day. Goodness, life's too short , and it doesn't look like it's making her happy.

ShmooBooMoo · 13/02/2016 23:31

Like the grey jumper, hate the culottes and the boots. Think the bulbous sleeves on the other jumper look ridiculous. Love the tweed coat.
I think it's fine to give an opinion on clothes. I would think the same if I saw them in a store, instead of on VB.

VertigoNun · 13/02/2016 23:40

The invisible phone thing is something I noted too.

SweetCheeks99 · 13/02/2016 23:50

YABU - I think she looks fine, I don't mind the outfits, I like chunky knitwear in the winter.

what I REALLY can't stand in the daily mail... bigoted rag that it is. it might not be original or witty do describe it as the daily fail, but it really is.

just my opinion of course.

WhoaCadburys · 13/02/2016 23:54

Are you a competitor? Or VB in disguise? Looks fine, as designer stuff goes.

MarmiteAndButter · 14/02/2016 05:11

I like them! They look like the sort of clothes I might aspire to buy versions on. Unlike most of fashion!
