'I've never lied to myself about what I was doing to prevent guilt, there is no guilt, and I have no "excuses" and can't be arsed giving my reasons as all that is relevant is I didn't want to be pregnant'. Well said, OddSocks. My situation was almost exactly the same. I'm sick of the mindset that we can only speak out about our experience if we're deemed to be adequately ashamed, guilty, and self loathing.
Can I also say, that this thread has been for the most part reasoned and supportive, and for that I'm grateful. I think it's important that we can discuss abortion and share our stories openly. To not discuss the issue or act like it's something about which we ought to be ashamed, only further stigmatises the issue and perpetuates the notion that it's wrong and shameful.
Also, Need, in response to your 11.29 post, honestly, you have nothing to apologise for. Please don't feel bad. You haven't upset anyone. One specific poster probably has, but that is not your fault. They would leap on any thread with the merest mention of abortion and post the same shite.
