AIBU....to give (as wedding favours), bags of flour.

I am getting married in a Windmill.

Same sex wedding (not that it matters).

Have hunted high and low for wedding favours.

I think a bag of flour from the mill, in a nice bag, with a recipe for an easy loaf, is ok.

Would you all make a face??

Paper bags of flour split easily so I'd get something morr substantial to put them in but otherwise - sounds like a nice quirky idea to me!

Hmm I am not sure - it's not exactly something you can just slip in a handbag is it? I suspect you'll end up with a lot of abandoned flour at the end of the night.

My one question on it is that favours generally slip into the pocket or handbag. If your event is more than a meal with allocated seating what would guests do with their bag of flour post meal?

Save your money, if it makes it home, it'll sit in cupboards and larders till its guiltily thrown out complete with newly arrived weevils.

If you must then something easily consumable, little loaves, chocolate, some form of miniature alcohol that goes with bread!

I am a well known miserable cow though. And I do make my own bread.

Lovely idea but depends on the guest tbh. If it was us getting married I know most would love it but I guarantee at least a few eejits would have them open and use them as confetti or general messing. It would worry me waiting for the flour bomb

Erm. Are your guests the kind of people who are likely to think that dance-floor flour bombs would be totes hilaires?

I wouldnt make a face at the idea at all .Sounds lovely and personal.

But what I would be worried about is having to look after it for the rest of the day. I cant imagine hefting a kilo or so of flour around while balancing a drink in one hand and a handbag in the other during the reception.And I can imagine quite a few would get left behind after being dumped during the dances .

But if you have an idea for overcoming the practicalities then yes - go for it.

I can see people getting drunk and covering each other in flour!

That's a lovely idea! But as a couple of others have already said, it needs to come in an easily tranported package.

Thinking about what plastic said about the bags, why not make up a little 'hamper' type thing in a loaf tin with a nicely printed receipe, the flour and some yeast.

We went to a windmill wedding a few years back and guests were given small handmade toy windmills - the sort you blow and spin round? Can't think what the proper name is!

Instead of paper could you get some calico or jute to make bags?

We have purchased special bags. It only costs 75p at the Windmill to fill them with their wholegrain flour too (enough to make a loaf). I have done an easy recipe. We are old, we don't throw flour, but yes, bags to carry home is good.
