To think its none of your fucking business Dawson!

Dawson's creek has to be one of the most frustrating shows ever. I have watched it end to end around 8 times. (Currently watching again) and each time if get more and more pissed off with this whole idea that Dawson has some sort of claim over Joey's virginity! All the fretting and hand wringing over whether she had sex with pacey and then her lying when she did and Gretchen telling her she has to go and tell him the truth. BOLLOCKS. She has to tell no-one. Her sex life was never Dawson's business (except that one time way later in university when they had sex with each other) he has no right to know any of it. I hate that whole storyline and the several years of pandering to the notion he had!

Oh yes the Kmart episode was fantastic.

And thank God she chose pacey. Dawson was a creep.

RudeElf · 03/02/2016 22:19

the whole controlling /slut shaming thing totally passed me by first time round.

Totally! I can only really remember watching as far as early season two the first time round (i was a teen and had an actual social life then! Grin) so my first watch of most of it has been as an adult post MN registration so i have spotted more and more LtB moments every time i watch it.

And now i'm going to buy the soundtrack. Smile

Also, that Joey girl can sure rock a formal dress.

Love DC. Although I shamefully admit that when I am bingeing on it, which isnt that often mind, i watch them on 1.5 speed to get through the wordy wordy dialog. Must dig out and watch again!

Kmart episode best ever. Dawson a complete weirdo.

Pacey foreves.

Oh yes I forgot about the JVDB episode of criminal minds and I was only talking about it the other day. Henry's very good in it.

Meredith Monroe (Andie) was in criminal minds too. Looks like the 3 that haven't gone on to big movies/series/marrying a list weirdos end up on criminal minds Smile

I had the soundtrack, reminds me of being about 14 Shock

CalleighDoodle · 04/02/2016 21:45

I learnt the word persnickety from DC. JVDB was also in HiMYM.

CerseiHeartsJaime4ever · 04/02/2016 22:06

Is this one netflix/now tv etc? Im on mat leave in 3 weeks and could do with reliving my youth.

RudeElf · 04/02/2016 22:07

Its not on netflix but i dont know about now tv.

I hate the way joey uses persnickety in that episode. Its a shit episode too.

OP posts:
RudeElf · 04/02/2016 22:08

Is persnickety a real word?

Not on Netflix or Amazon Prime but series 1 is only a fiver to download on Amazon at the moment.

Series 2-6 are £11 each though.

Me and DD are working our way through Glee again at the moment (we never finished it before) and Amazon recommended DC next. I pointed at it and said 'we're watching that after - you'll love it'. She's looking forward to it. Another Pacey fan waiting in the wings!

LittleBearPad · 04/02/2016 22:19

I loved Pacey deeply and sincerely. Grin

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 04/02/2016 22:35

Bugger DC what about Gilmore Girls? not going to say how excited I got when I hrard they're making more

RudeElf · 04/02/2016 22:35

Thats one i never got into. The mum annoyed me.

OP posts:
RudeElf · 04/02/2016 22:36

Oh I. loved this show Blush

pacey, they had him. painted as teh class clown etc but he really came through for people so many times then screwed it up.. andi, he was there fir her I was so angry he never forgave her for cheating on him. she had a breakdown poor girl. cut her some slack.

he totally owned that teacher who tried to humiliate jack.

then there was Audrey. fun pretty kind but he just when cold on her.

joey i guess he tried to do the decent thing there.....

I loved jen. so honest and bright in a way no one realised. she was treated so badly by dason. she was a good person. so what if no one "approved of her" she didn't do anything wrong and in fact she nearly ended up in am awful situation with that older guy and no one saw past the blonde and the clothes.

jack. felt so bad fir him. him and jen were so good together as best friends. nice to see him happy with paces brother even if jen did die. still nearly makes me cry

joey was the most annoying person ever. she thought she was too good fir everything and everyone but the only person who stood in joeys way was joey. although shed have you believe it was cos of pacy or Dawson. but it was her.

RudeElf · 04/02/2016 22:55

Joey was very frustrating. Pick one guy and stick with him love! All that yo-yo-ing! Amazed they both didnt just say "fuck this shit" and go off to find other women.

Pacey (and in turn Joshua Jackson) is my once and forever TV boyfriend. He bought her a wall! Swoon. I agree that he challenged Joey and didn't patronize and idealize her like stupid Dawson did. Though looking back now, he probably should have ditched both Dawson and Joey and done a runner with Jen!

I always loathed Dawson and thought he was creepy and controlling. And even more so looking back on it. Self-centred twerp.

I used to love the "Television Without Pity" recaps. Television Without Pity closed down a couple of years ago but the recaps archive is still there for posterity. If you ever fancy wasting some time, they are very funny. I particularly recommend the series 3 ones, when the Dawson/Pacey/Joey triangle of doom was in full swing. Lots of in jokes from the beginning though (usually about the size of Dawson's forehead - or five-head in fact!). The recappers there always hated Dawson too.

FaithAscending · 04/02/2016 23:10

Ah yes, happy teenage viewing.

Dawson really was a twunt. There's one bit where Joey starts doing art and he's so patronising about it. She actually says Why is your film making a passion but you call this my hobby? She should have gone to France.

I caught the last episode randomly but I should really watch the last season. I tried watching it again (think it was on demand or Netflix) but they become incredibly whiny and self-obsessed when they go to college and I just couldn't stand any more of it!

I'm so glad she ended up with Pacey. I don't think fans would have liked it any other way. Perhaps Kevin Williamson didn't really what a stud Joshua Jackson would grow into?

I'm looking for a new series so Fringe it is!

RudeElf · 04/02/2016 23:30

I'm on season 5 now where they have all gone to university and i really think they should have ended it with season 4. Its just not the same at all when theyre at college with all these outsiders new characters.

Highsteaks · 04/02/2016 23:33

I agree with pretty much everything on the thread.

But I also wanted tovapplaid Olivia for posting that quote from 10 Things I Hate About You, which I still firmly believe is the most underrated film of all time Grin

Highsteaks · 04/02/2016 23:34

That should.say 'applaud'....

LittleBearPad · 05/02/2016 00:06

I loved Television without pity. Is forgotten all about it!

anonacfr · 05/02/2016 07:43

10 Things I Hate About You is wonderful and snarky. I recently re-bought the DVD (I had the VHS Grin) and plan to re-watch along with The Cutting Edge another classic I haven't seen in about 15 years.

Fringe is wonderful. Peter and Olivia are so great together and Walter is the best character ever.
I also think the ending was very satisfying. None of that Lost nonsense.

Gileswithachainsaw · 05/02/2016 12:07

thanks guys. I've had to dig out my box set.

I'm sure season 1 had a different theme tune or am I going mad.not the Paula Cole one. they must have got rid of it when they did the box set?

NewYearSameMe · 05/02/2016 12:40

I used to love 10 Things I Hate About You but I can't watch it since Heath Ledger died, I'm odd about watching actors who died young.
