Dawson's creek has to be one of the most frustrating shows ever. I have watched it end to end around 8 times. (Currently watching again) and each time if get more and more pissed off with this whole idea that Dawson has some sort of claim over Joey's virginity! All the fretting and hand wringing over whether she had sex with pacey and then her lying when she did and Gretchen telling her she has to go and tell him the truth. BOLLOCKS. She has to tell no-one. Her sex life was never Dawson's business (except that one time way later in university when they had sex with each other) he has no right to know any of it. I hate that whole storyline and the several years of pandering to the notion he had!

Have you seen Fringe RudeElf the character that Joshua Jackson plays in it has lots of similarities to a grown up Pacy, and as a bonus there's no Dawson type character, most of the other male characters are also quite appealing. I watched all 5 seasons of Fringe two years ago when the DC were away with their Dad for Christmas, I felt bereft when it finished as I was so in love with Peter Bishop (Jackson's character).

I never saw the last season of Dawson's Creek, do you think I should? I might not have seen the second last season either, I'm not sure.

RudeElf · 03/02/2016 13:26

I havent seen fringe. Is it on netflix?

I am of course going to say YES to watching last season of DC! Grin

I'm not sure, I'm so old and backward that I bought the complete set on DVD. Blush I should get Netflix or similar, but really we don't watch all that much TV as a family, we are all more gamer types.

sonjadog · 03/02/2016 13:29

Jen's wild child days were not particularly wild, IIRC. I always thought she made much more of them that she needed to.

NewYearSameMe · 03/02/2016 13:29

OK, I will get the last season of DC. I may have to start at the first season and work my way through as I haven't seen it for over a decade, but I'll get there. Wink

RudeElf · 03/02/2016 13:31

Oh yes Audrey! Poor audrey. Yes was fine to have sex with all these nameless women who would leave his boat before breakfast or in the kitchen of the restaurant but anyone he dated couldnt possibly have the same sexual history.

Dawson looked as though he had his face bolted on at Halfords

wigglesrock · 03/02/2016 13:32

Fringe is on Netflix - 5 seasons - time to hunker down Grin. It's very good. I think Walter Bishop has been one of my favourite characters on tv in a long time.

QuintessentialShadows · 03/02/2016 13:33

How about The OC? How I met your Mother, Drop Dead Diva, The 100, Star Trek (from Next Generation and more recent) Doctor Who to suggest a few good series??? But Dawsons Creek?

RudeElf · 03/02/2016 13:36

They really werent that wild were they sonja? she was preyed upon aged 12 and drunk by an older (they never said by how much older!) boyfriend, fell into the drug scene and witnessed her father having sex with their teenage neighbour. But by age 15 she was written off as a 'bad' girl who was waiting to rip the pants off every man she met! Hmm

Is DC on Netflix? If so, that's this evening sorted...

Bluebolt · 03/02/2016 13:42

Walter (fringe) is now sherlocks dad in elementary and it is just so wrong, he will always be Walter Bishop. Loved fringe even when it went off the chart for weirdness.

RudeElf · 03/02/2016 13:42

No sonja. It used to be but they've taken it off now.

Was Audrey played by Busy Philips? I liked her in Cougar town

Definitely watch season 6 even if it's only for the Joey, Pacey and Dawson conclusion

PalcumTowder · 03/02/2016 14:02

Pacey always made me feel queasy because his name sounds like "pate". Like liver pate being pasted onto some pastry. Ugh Envy

candykane25 · 03/02/2016 14:05

Ross and the Pivot scene is gold though.
He's portrayed as an idiot who knows nothing about how to have a relationship I thought, which is why Rachel is so fed up with him until the very end.
My Pacey crush is now reawakened.

Mumberjack · 03/02/2016 14:24

I loved and hated Dawson's Creek in equal measures, I still have a crush on Joshua Jackson but oh god the verbal diarrhoea in every episode!!!
I couldn't fathom why Joey could spend a summer on a boat with Pacey and not jump him though.

SatsukiKusakabe · 03/02/2016 14:46

palcumtowder you've just made him sound even tastier

RudeElf · 03/02/2016 15:14

Pace-ee and patt-ay dont sound alike! Grin

Funnily enough I never saw more than the odd episode when it was first on, and Ive started watching it on netflix. It. Is. Awful. Any sympathy I had for Joey evaporated when she had the opportunity to go to France, but turned it down to be with her new boyfriend. Would Dawson have done the same? I doubt it. But no because she is a female a boyfriend is more important than a life opportunity.

Also Jen and her Grandmother. Why is everything such a drama for Jen? Why is she obsessed with her grandmothers faith? Why does she wail and cry over EVERYTHING? Such a drama llama.

On the other hand, the 90s fashions are wonderful.

Hygge · 03/02/2016 16:27

I was just reading guardian article and it put me in mind of this thread.

It's about how rom-com's can normalise 'stalkerish' behaviour and make women more accepting of it.

I'd quite like to see what the woman who did the study would make of Ross and Dawson.

RudeElf · 03/02/2016 16:42

Would Dawson have done the same? I doubt it.

Absolutely not. His hobby was his "passion" whereas Joey's lifelong dream to visit paris was secondary to her being the object of dawson's obsession desires. Hmm
