AIBU to feel uncomfortable with this day and also really irritated at the lack of discussion over this event from a feminist perspective. There seems to be a wholesale silence from the Feminist blogs and papers I subscribe to, and I can't find any discussion on here. No-one wants to talk to about it.

Just that really.

I lived in Indonesia for a while a few years ago and at the time, there was a movement in one of the major cities towards an Islamic reformation of sorts; mixed congregations; the liturgy in the vernacular etc. all very medieval Europe!

It was controversial but popular. Not sure where it's up to now, but I like to think it's continued to grow steadily.

Islam is a relatively immature religion on the big scheme of things and, I'd like to think their reformation will come. Bear in mind that Vatican II was only a recent reinvention.
