AIBU to be disappointed that not every ( active ) member of MN has not taken part in the Olympic committee's trans policy poll thread?

It would take two minutes & you have 3 choices - support, protest. abstain.

What's stopping everyone taking part?

Ive only scrolled down this thread briefly.

I could ask a million aibu to think you should care about the issues I care about threads. But I haven't because we all have different issues that we all care about deeply. If I cared deeply about everything I'd implode.

At the moment I care most about the 10,000 children who have gone missing after arriving in Europe two years ago. And the kids who are stuck in camps along borders across Europe, living in mud and cold at huge risk to their safety.

That is what is pressing on my mind most at present.

The subjects been "done" so much its tedious in the extreme but I fully expect there to be another thread shortly as posters who just can't leave it alone will never rest until we all metaphorically sing "reach out and touch" and welcome transgenders with open arms

MistressDeeCee, you seriously aren't seeing the same trans threads as everyone else. Time and again, it's the posters who want to have a good scaremongering thread about transpeople who start the new threads, and those who don't go along with the consensus are the ones being shouted down. As this thread is demonstrating yet again, gamerchick is absolutely right that dissent on this topic isn't tolerated. Frankly, these repeated trans bashing threads are making MN increasingly toxic. We don't see this level of obsession even about issues like child abuse.

And count me as another person who insists on my username being taken off that spreadsheet NOW. How can you seriously ask "How else should we count the votes?" That's entirely your problem. If you are really sad enough to think votes on that poll prove anything at all, you could do it by an extremely simple tally system. The very fact that someone ever thought it was appropriate demonstrates just how toxic this is.

Yes, but we are not all sheep and we are certainly not obliged to pander to the OP's whim of having a poll on the subject on MN.

well said Lwejj.

venusinscorpio · 31/01/2016 14:26

No wickedlazy. I collated a very basic spreadsheet from the poll just so we could calculate the poll votes. I have done this for the first thread so can delete.

venusinscorpio · 31/01/2016 14:30

Some people really need to get over themselves. You don't own the internet. Anyone can save a thread, they just don't tell you. I will delete the spreadsheet now, as I said. I've finished with it.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 31/01/2016 14:30

Gosh. The melodrama.

Maryz, if it's so hard to count posts on a multi-page thread, guess what, you can put them on one page. It's a whole lot easier than setting up a stupid spreadsheet.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 31/01/2016 14:32

Making a spreadsheet to count votes =/= keeping your opinion on file to hold against you

Hmm

Veritat · 31/01/2016 14:33

And why count anyway? It's a totally meaningless exercise. So N hundred self-selected people on MN chose to vote one way? N thousand didn't. Get over it.

venusinscorpio · 31/01/2016 14:33

You can put them on one page and count manually down for 1005 posts, but it's so much easier to filter, Veritat. You know anyone would just print it out if they were going to count manually. What's the difference?

venusinscorpio · 31/01/2016 14:34

Yes we realise you don't approve Veritat, you've made that clear.

A spreadsheet? With people's posting names on it along side their opinion/vote. Do you think you are the self-appointed fucking STASI of MN venus?
