AIBU to be disappointed that not every ( active ) member of MN has not taken part in the Olympic committee's trans policy poll thread?

It would take two minutes & you have 3 choices - support, protest. abstain.

What's stopping everyone taking part?

OP posts:

I read the 2nd thread. I won't be posting on it.

It's not just a "quick poll on MN". Members are collating results on Excel and I do not know for what purpose. There is also a secret FB page. So I will Abstain by not posting.

venusinscorpio · 31/01/2016 13:39

Only to count the replies! Nothing sinister I assure you though not sure what possible sinister impact an excel spreadsheet of the thread could have

We are asking for people to look at the implications for women

No. The OP is "disappointed".
Well, tough.

I'm happy to discuss implications for women (if I'm not engaging with something else at the same time - there's only so much we can engage with at any point), but not being told I have to post on a poll thread. Nothing about being rebellious.
And that sort of comment, as well as the "disappointed" bit, just alienates the people you are supposed to want to win over. Because it implies we have to act in the way you want to. You are the ones failing to accept that people have their own worries and own lives, separate from yours.

Lweji · 31/01/2016 13:46

I think though that she has the right to feel comfortable getting changed without a man with his tackle being near her.

I bet she wouldn't particularly mind. Unless you instill the fear in her.

And a "a man with his tackle being near her"? That's ridiculous. If she uses public transport there will be plenty of men with their tackles closer to her.
Probably closer on the beach where she is in a bikini.

venusinscorpio · 31/01/2016 13:52

It's not private information. If you hadn't noticed, Mumsnet is a public site where people use pseudonyms and anyone can link to or screenshot anyone's post and post it all over the internet if they so wish to. That's just the reality of posting on a talkboard. I'm sorry if this comes as a surprise to you. How else should we count the votes?

boopsy

I know exactly what you mean

I think my DD wouldnt know where to look if a peson with a penis came out dressed to the nines in the New Look females changing room Smile

And i have never been in a mixed sex changing room in a shop (have in the leisure centre...all seperate cubicles and no communal changing area)

venusinscorpio · 31/01/2016 14:02

How can the spreadsheet identify people exactly?

RufusTheReindeer · 31/01/2016 14:03

Actually i take that back

My dd would only be looking at herself in the mirror Smile

It isn't my poll. I didn't start it. I just counted the numbers. I'll get rid of the spreadsheet now if lots of people have a problem with it, but it's quite difficult to count all the posts on a 1006 post thread without one.

venusinscorpio · 31/01/2016 14:08

I was counting. The names are of no interest except to check no one posted the protest or support or abstain vote twice.

DioneTheDiabolist · 31/01/2016 14:08

I am aware that what I post here is public and people can do what they like with that information.

But I refuse to knowingly allow my thoughts on this issue be recorded for possible future use. I also want to state that I am not abstaining because I am unsure or on the fence regarding this issue. I am very sure how I feel about this issue.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 31/01/2016 14:09

I was under the impression it was just for counting, not being used in the sense of "oo, youre going in the spreadsheet"! Grin

Oh do give over. I am just counting the names. I collated it late on Fri at the end of the last thread. You'll have to take my word for it that I have deleted the spreadsheet as I'm not going to be able to prove it to you, but I will do so, as you feel this strongly. I would suggest you take a bit more care what you post on a fully public site in future, if you're so.concerned about it.

Is the op actually making spreadsheets of all our names and opinions?

Why? What is the point Confused
