Well I'm on one this last week or so with household chores..how do you sort your washing? Christ I need to get out more (been housebound with flu)
DH says I'm ridiculous as I use the following categories (he just bungs everything in together, like Widow Twankys wash service). All our stuff is also washed with dettol laundry cleanser (another thing that irritates him no end)..

colours - eg tops, trousers on a 30 wash
pants - 70 wash
socks - 70 wash
bath towels - 70 wash
tea towels and dish cloths - 90 wash

Light colours.
Dark colours
Whites
Blacks.

All on a cool 30 or 40 wash

With those ridiculous scented beads that my husband insists on ?!

I do white washes and coloured washes. Both 40 degree washes.

Bedding I will normally do on a 60 degree wash.

Blues/greens - 40 degrees
Darks - 40
Whites - 60
Towels - 60
Wool - wool wash

Darks and lights. Everything either on 40 or 60.

It all seems to be ok.

I need to pay attention to this thread. At the moment i just chuck whatever in willy nilly

Towels & bedding both done on 90 (obsessed with killing dust mites, don't use biological powder).

I just bung it all in together, only sorting tends to be a pile of mine then a pile of his stuff!

Oh, and anything marked hand wash or dry clean goes on as delicates (cold or 30, depending) and wool as....well, wool.

70 is a bit high IMO. Our pants and socks just get washed with normal clothes and are always clean.

I do :
Darks, bright colours and whites (separately) - 30 or 40
Bedding - 60
Towels - 60
DP's chef clothes (all black) - 90

Towels/socks/pants 90 boil wash
Rest 40 degree 45 minute wash... We don't really wear whites...
Bedding 60 degree 1 hour wash

darks - 30C
lights - 40C
nappies + soiled clothes - 40C, non-bio + Napisan, prewash
woollens + delicates - 40C + wool wash
bedding, towels - short wash 40C or 30C, depending on colour

Lights at 40
Darks at 40

Still alive

Bras on handwash setting
Pyjamas, pants and socks on 60
Bedding on 60
Towels and flannels on at 60
Dishcloths and Hankies on at 90

I also have a fleet of separate washing baskets for each lot, which makes it loads easier (can't fit all my 80s in one wash, and towels don't get fabric softener)

Darks, light adult clothes, light child clothes (we only have one child, makes it easier to hang and put away!) Separately on a 40 wash with comfort pure or equivalent

Bedding on 60 with naice softener/ridiculous scented beads (when they're on offer)

Towels on 60 with no softener

Tea towels, dusters and cleaning cloths on 90 (I tell myself it helps clean the machine), no softener, only every couple of weeks when I run out of clean tea towels.

All clothes in together on 40, apart from DH's work shirts. Towels on 60. Bedding on 95.

30 or 40.

What's the reason for 70? 'Germs' aren't that resilient.

To be honest, I haven't noticed fewer bacteria in my home since putting stuff on at 60

a separate category for PJ's..may add this to the washing rota. DH will be thrilled hefzi

Separate washes for darks and lights on 30 or 40.
Towels 60
Bedding 40 or 60 depending on my mood.
Save up delicates for a special wash on wool cycle at 30.

Life is too short to sort laundry (and spend more £ on separate washes)...everything in together unless I happen to know that something runs. I do tend to do towels in one wash, sometimes on an fast 60c wash.

I separate into

Lights
Brights
Dark

All at 40 degrees
