They clip round the glass stem. So you can recognise your glass.

Then they rattle. And then you Forget to take them off and they get washed and chip other things....

I can see why you'd want to do that but I think it would scare me even more to see one in the clothes of a child I loved... It's something about the weighted, soft but unmoving limbs that are just that little bit too floppy, and I've seen lots where the skin colour isn't quite right, a tiny bit too mottled... Gives me chills...
