To think Miranda won't be funny in 10 years time?

I used to love Miranda. DD loved Miranda. I even took her plus a friend to see Miranda and had to wait a year after booking the bleeding tickets.

But I've just caught an episode (the one where she pretends to go on holiday) and it's just got a bit..... tired and dated. AIBU? I've got nothing against the girl. I think she was just a bit of a fad .

Is he dead then?

RonniePickering · 26/01/2016 13:20

Jack Docherty isn't dead.

CrystalMcPistol · 26/01/2016 13:20

Never heard of this Jack Docherty. Maybe Graham Norton's people had him erased from our memories.

ComposHatComesBack · 26/01/2016 13:26

Okay, thanks Ronnie! I thought someone mentioned upthread he'd died.

Bexster93 · 26/01/2016 13:40

didn't find her funny to begin with

PinkPjamas · 26/01/2016 13:40

I don't find it funny at all-but I can still laugh at older series like 'the two ronnies' or 'the royle family' so not just an out of date thing for me. I don't know what it is. My Grandmother used to say 'That's too daft to laugh at' about some series and I think that may be it for me.

It's OK wagglebees - the grammar police comment as, as owllady suggests, entirely pointed at myself but probably an easy mistake to make so have a proper biscuit and not a Biscuit biscuit Flowers. I keep obsessing about that line from St Trinian's (

"He looks like he doesn't have a pot to piss in"
Miss Fritton: "*&!!?$£"
"I'm sorry. He looks like he does not have a pot in which to piss."

Carrying on - what about Reeves and Mortimer? I howled at that in 1991 but in 2016 WTF? Even Shooting Stars is sexist and creepy when Vic leers over women and rubs his thighs.

Shurrup about this dead nonsense. It was my mistake Blush Blush
Batshit, it was on at teatime I think. I only know as my little sister used to like it! :o I think I most probably had a job or baby or something

rosebiggs · 26/01/2016 14:52

Yes Reeves ad Mortimer is terrible isn't it? The man with the stick! I thought that was hilarious at the time. Confused

batshitlady · 26/01/2016 15:48

"Vic Reeves Big Night Out" was on UK Gold a year or so ago. Awful isn't the word for it. 'Embarrassing', 'disgraceful' is. I kept thinking, during the one minute I could stand watching it for, how did this man get away with it? Were we all that desperate for something to laugh at in 1990? A tearful Margaret Thatcher was hounded from office that same year. Now that was funny!

batshitlady · 26/01/2016 15:54

"You wouldn't let it lie would you"? That was it wasn't it? We actually laughed at that? My goodness. Got to hand it to VR I suppose, he got away with that and forged a very lucrative TV career too on the back of it. Shocking really!

Owllady · 26/01/2016 17:52

I once met him in m&s foodhall

DottyBlue2 · 26/01/2016 22:04

Did he knock over the biscuits and shout "You wouldn't let it lie!"

Was he buying a cup a soup?
