Fed up with Surrey and all the people here my mil and her family are all dysfunctional nightmares. I want to move far far away and start over freshere. Is it so wrong to just want to move far away for a better life?

No i want to move coz i moved hete thinking id take care of my dad and get help from the walton crew of siblings but hes been dumped on me. Mil too but she was dunped o. me from day 1 of marriage no help even though her daughter ia sahm and her kids are in college not wee kids .

Im bitter i never wantwd to come here im moving next year husband is fed up too. There will be less resentment with distance between us

ilovesooty · 18/01/2016 17:38

I don't think there's enough information to make a judgement. We don't know about your housing situation, your children's schools or your and your husband's job situation.

ThatsIrrelephant · 18/01/2016 17:39

YANBU. Yorkshire is far friendly than Surrey.

PollyPerky · 18/01/2016 17:39

You can't 'lose' your relatives no matter how far away you move; you might just see less of them.

Why Yorkshire- do you come from Yorks?

Katarzyna79 · 18/01/2016 17:41

no pink slipper you will be happier but harder tomake friendsfor me it was anyway . Ido t get time either but despite that i was happier away from everyone.here iget my siblinfs sayinh theyre here forme how i dont know in spirit? MetalMidget · 18/01/2016 17:41

I'd love to move to Yorkshire - beautiful landscapes, friendly people and far cheaper house prices! Sadly the industry I work in doesn't have a huge number of jobs up there.

mincepieprivateeye · 18/01/2016 17:43

Don't know about your family but I do know about Yorkshire. Some not so good parts abd some wonderful parts but if you've got trouble with family then the moon won't be far enough to escape them Grin

ditavonteesed · 18/01/2016 17:43

everyone should move to yorkshire it's lovely and the houses cost a ton less and everyone is friendly.

ollieplimsoles · 18/01/2016 17:45

Come! I'm a Yorkshire lassie and we will welcome you with open arms, I really love it here, lived here all my life

BikeRunSki · 18/01/2016 17:45

Don't tell everyone Dita.
Mind you, there are also some very expensive parts of Yorkshire.

Hihohoho1 · 18/01/2016 17:54

Grass greener and all that.

SilverMachine · 18/01/2016 17:55

Oh I love Yorkshire so yanbu.

If it weren't for the family ties I have here down south l would move there too.

Runningupthathill82 · 18/01/2016 17:55

It's the greatest place in the world. Fantastic scenery, beautiful coastline, thriving cities, picture-postcard villages, the loveliest people in the land... But don't tell everyone, they'll all want to come.

iwillbemrsminty · 18/01/2016 17:55

As Ollie said, in Yorkshire too. Come on up!! Flowers

iwillbemrsminty · 18/01/2016 17:56

DisappointedOne · 18/01/2016 17:58

DH is a Yorkshireman. I think I'd have to kill him if he ever suggested moving there.

Melonaire · 18/01/2016 18:01

'YANBU. Yorkshire is far more friendly than Surrey'

Mordor is far more friendly than Surrey.

Tottyandmarchpane1 · 18/01/2016 18:04

We are hopefully moving to West Yorkshire. I started a thread about it recently and lovely lovely people suggested some gorgeous places to live. Can't wait. We are currently in Hampshire.

knobblyknee · 18/01/2016 18:07

I moved up North from Surrey and never looked back. I dont miss it at all. Smile

Whathaveilost · 18/01/2016 18:07

YABU
Move to Lancashire!!!

frikadela01 · 18/01/2016 18:08

Yorkshire is a fantastic place to live. Granted there are some not nice areas currently live in the shit hole that is bradford but there is so much beauty here. I hope I live in Yorkshire till I die.

PinkSlipperQueen · 18/01/2016 18:08

Okay background:
DH works like a dog to afford our small 2 bed flat. If we moved to where I have my sights set we could have a 3 bed with garden and a small mortgage that would be paid off in less than 10 years. Where we are now we have no chance of getting a house unless we literally won a lotto draw! DH family are.a.bunch of fuck ups. I want to keep this light but mil has put dh in unforgiving situations when he was younger. I can't forgive her and it lingers over us like a dark cloud. I just don't want anything to do with them anymore. They won't leave DH alone. But going back to moving I feel like we would have a much better quality of life in Yorkshire. We're kooped up in a small flat with 3 kids and I feel suffocated here ie no where to hang washing or store toys. I just want a more relaxed life

Yorkshire is gorgeous.

BillBrysonsBeard · 18/01/2016 18:19

Come up here OP, Yorkshire is grand!

NKFell · 18/01/2016 18:21

I'm Cumbrian but (North) Yorkshire isn't far away and it is beautiful- and that's coming from a Cumbrian!

A friend of mine moved to Harrogate- wasn't cheap mind you but, it's all perspective! It'll be cheaper than Surrey!
