to complain about antibacs being used instead of bleach?

Using bleach is not going to kill off the human race, using antibac cleaners might well, so why do so many people use antibacs and think they are taking the high moral ground?

bleach is used mostly in toilets, people are splashing antibacterials around all over kitchen surfaces and everywhere, and claiming moral superiority because they don't put bleach in their toilet.

Antibacterial desk wipes are not going to end the human race. Antibiotics might. Is that what you meant?

Bleach does not kill germs it just makes things look nice. This is why it is banned from professional establishments.

Many people? How are many people? I use bleach in the toilet after ive cleaned it as does everyone i know, not that ive asked them, just see the bleach in the toilet. I wouldnt put bleach on kitchen surface i have kitchen cleaner (cif) or wipe down after washing up with damp cloth. Don't understand what you complaining about? I think you got your issues mixed up.

Why is bleach so much better?

Mum uses anti bac and then bleach in her kitchen. Bleach doesn't kill all germs but makes things cleaner.

Bleach does kill germs. I use diluted bleach to wipe down my kitchen surfaces. Kim and Aggie always used bleach and washing up liquid!!!!

Everyone on here complains of bleach and takes to oral high ground, but doesn't mention jumping into their gas guzzelling 4x4's to go buy their anti-bac sprays.

Bleach does indeed kill germs Slutbucket Confused the reason uts not often used as a surface cleaner is because it should be rinsed away as it's an irritant, and most surface disinfectants don't require this.

Bleach is just another type of disinfectant - it's no better or worse than most other antibacterials

Slut bucket bleach does kill germs and it is not banned from all professional establishments. I own a clinical establishment and we use bleach in certain areas. This is advice on bee keepers issued on behalf of defra advising hypochlorite (household bleach) as a disinfectant for hives, it is used to clean milking systems, milk tanks, I could go on. The most important thing which bleach is it needs to be used actively i.e. You need to scrub with it, pour it on alone will not work.

It only kills germs when the surface has been pre cleaned so is very inefficient as a cleaner and also very dangerous. It has been banned from professional restaurants, nursing homes etc for quite some time. There are a multitude of other agents that are far more superior to bleach.

As said Bleach does kill germs, including the major ones. It isn't as well used in 'Professional Establishments", because of the possible health and environmental risks.

If the OP is in the US then I can understand her concern the FDA have linked the use of antibac cleaners and the rise in 'super bugs'.

So they recommend targeting the cleaner used to the job.

They wouldn't be allowed to say that if they can't prove that it's true.

I agree that there are better cleaning products than bleach.

Our NHS was looking at using TeaTree Oil based cleaners, used in Australia, but that went out of the window.

I'm Vegan, diet wise and using some cleaners creates a dilemma, I use Astonish products (as well as Vinegar etc) which at least are endorsed by the Vegetarian Society.
