To think this is just a super depressing, kind of disgusting and unnecessarily aggressive start to the morning?!

Walking to work, passed man walking dog on our street who let dog do massive poo and just walked off. It's a horrible and way too common problem round here. I said, 'excuse me, could you pick up after your dog please?' and get the (shouted) reply 'I've run out of bags and anyway you can FUCK OFF. Have you got a bag? No? JUST FUCK OFF THEN.'

AIBU to be a bit taken aback by the reaction?!! Lovely start to the day...

Considered taking his picture to report but thought a) I might get punched and b) really what will happen.

Feeling v indignant. Why be so gross? Why be such a thug? Or WIBU and an interfering busybody?!

In future don't tackle them....just take photo and report. ANyone who lets their dog do that will be a nasty twat. Don;t take the risk.

Yes he was aggressive and there was no need to swear but if he'd run out of bags and you didn't have one to offer what did you expect him to do exactly?

My DH was in this situation once, he scouted in a bin and got a bag! Not hard.

sooper you honestly think non-dog owners should have bags with them to offer them to dog owners that can't be arsed to bring any?

I'd expect him never to run out of bags because his dog is his responsibility. I could not care less how he cleans up if he's forhotton to bring one.

Separately, zero need for aggression to OP. An apology and promise to come back later to sort it would I've sufficed.

If he'd run out of dog poo bags then any sort of carrier bag will do the job. The ones that annoy me ( in our local country park ) are the ones who walk a good distance ahead of their dogs so don't even notice when their dog leaves a huge pile behind.

Any one with a dog should take enough bags...its not rocket science

I don't have a dog...so don't need to pick up poo...so don't need to carry a bag...i wouldnt have thought that was rocket science either

OP is not being unreasonable to think that she didnt deserve that level of abuse

Most people i kniw would be so embarressed that they would not stop apologising, might not have been able to do anything but they would be mortified

Dh was in the grass opposite our house last week. A women walking her dog stopped and it did a shit outside our house. She picked it up in tissue, went in our garden walked down the path at the side of her house and threw the shit in a bin.

It's not our council bin, it's a large bin that we use for our business that can only have certain stuff if (I wouldn't have been happy if it was our normal bin) tbh.

Dh went over and told her it's not ok to go in our garden or use our bin and went on to explain that it's a bin we pay for that not everything can be put in.

She went mental. Dh is very laid back and very confrontation averse. So just asked her to remove it. She refused.

I know her so I went round....I am slightly more confrontational, and told her to get it moved. Her husband apologised profusely and she came and took it away.

I told her never to step on my property again. We are leasehold so have a residents association, which is usually a bore. But I threatened to out her at it, if she did it again. Her response was that she doesn't like shit in her own bin

Spoke to the neighbours and they have seen her doing it before to other people's bins but never said anything. She is apparently really aggressive. She wasn't to me, hopefully she will stop it now someone has stood up to her.

Our car has broken down so I've been walking dd to pre-school and back. I'm shocked at the amount of dog poo there is on the journey. Really vile having to constantly tell a 3yo to mind the poo.

I would never expect a dog owner to 'run out of bags', they're not exactly expensive to stock up on.

(1) Make sure he had enough bags with him before he went out.
(2) Not swear.
(3) Politely say he had no bags but will come back with one and sort it out.

Tbf, I doubt it's an issue of 'running out' of bags. He could have had tons at home but not taken enough on his walk/dropped them out of his pocket/they came untied from the lead and lost. All of these have happened to me.

Thing is, you go and find a bag from the nearest bin or park, and come back ASAP and retrieve the poo. And apologise profusely if called out in the meantime. You don't act like an arrogant wanker, since you're the one in the wrong.

DD and I had to step over HUMAN FAECES outside our local public toilets the other day whilst waiting for DS. It's town centre and there was just a trail of shit. We simply couldn't believe it!

His behaviour was awful.

doesn't like shit in her own bin - OMG. Unbelievable.

I am a dog owner and all my pockets have poo bags in, if I realise that I haven't got on I get panicky. Even picked up a random discarded carrier bag the other day whilst out with the dog in case I needed it as I realised I had emptied my pockets to wash my coat and failed to refill.

Off now to doubly restock all bags and pockets and the car!

I would have quietly photographed and reported it's just vile.

I've been known to go back to house for a bottle of water when my dog has suddenly had the type of poo that I'm unable to pick (infact I now carry a 500ml bottle of tap water on every walk 'just in case').

As a parent that has pushed a pram or buggy continuously for the last 6 years dog poo is the bane of my life. Our walk to school is littered with it. Every month the pc put something in the news letter but never actually do anything about it!

My council bin REEKS in summer, but my dog, my problem. Only an arse would inflict that on a stranger!!

Nobody accidentally runs out of bags imo. They don't bring any knowing full well they aren't going to pick up the poo, or do as a PP says and walk far ahead of their dog so they can pretend they don't notice. In our local park, which is a childrens park with swings etc, people let their dogs run miles away from them and ignore anything they do, meaning the kids can't go near the grass. It's vile. I would have taken his photo and reported it, our council fines them, I would imagine all councils do?

He should not have run out of bags. Pretty much every jacket I own has bags in the pocket & I still check before leaving the house with the dog. Picking up poo is part of being a dog owner although you wouldn't think so as I spend most of my dog walking time dodging piles others have left.

Yes probably should've not bothered - but naive but I thought it might politely shame him!

I have a dog myself and so normally do have bags about my person ...suffice to say from his demeanour and the fact he was yelling that I didn't think he genuinely wished me to provide one. And I have to agree with other posters that even as a fellow dog owner it's not up to me to provide him with the means to clear up his dog's poo! Wtf?!

I know you can run out of bags - happened to me once, I literally sprinted home (with perplexed DDog) and got (perplexed) DH to drive me back round at breakneck speed to clear up. If anyone had challenged me I would've been abject with apology and explained how I intended to rectify.

Pissed off that I'm a bit shaken up by it tbh. Wouldn't normally be but I'm 31 weeks pregnant so not v fast on my feet! So will take advice not to risk in future.

Dog poo left on pavements really annoys me. My walk to and from school with the children revolves around me saying every 10 steps or so, 'mind that poo.' It's disgusting. Just before Christmas there was an enormous pile of it right outside the school gate. Seriously, what type of person thinks that's okay?!

I probably wouldn't confront someone because the type of person to not clear up after a dog is the type of person to generally be an arsehole, as you have discovered! Good on you for saying something though. Sorry he was such a nasty bastard.

It's easy enough to run out of bags. If you've brought two bags with you and your dog inexplicably decides to do three shits on his walk, you have a problem. I've been there. And the carrier bag charge means there are fewer random plastic bags lying around in bins these days.

However, a reasonable response from him would be "I'm really sorry, I've run out of bags. Do you happen to have one I can borrow? Not to worry if you don't, I'll go and see what I can find."

And if he happens to get a fine in the meantime, then, well, that's tough. He'll bring 10 bags next time.

Given the OPs post, I think you and your DH are really unreasonable. A one off use of your bin to dispose of dog faeces and you insist the woman moves it? FGS - it's a bin! Not sure what you mean by "can only have certain stuff in it" for a business.

I get that going onto someone's property to use their bin isn't great but at least she was clearing it up.

I think I would have spoken to her and told her not to do it again. But getting her to remove it?!?! Christ. What is wrong with you? Would you rather she left it on the street? I think that is really excessively aggressive and really unreasonable. It's worse if she's a neighbour and you actually know her. She probably didn't think it was a big deal.
