To think this is just a super depressing, kind of disgusting and unnecessarily aggressive start to the morning?!

Walking to work, passed man walking dog on our street who let dog do massive poo and just walked off. It's a horrible and way too common problem round here. I said, 'excuse me, could you pick up after your dog please?' and get the (shouted) reply 'I've run out of bags and anyway you can FUCK OFF. Have you got a bag? No? JUST FUCK OFF THEN.'

AIBU to be a bit taken aback by the reaction?!! Lovely start to the day...

Considered taking his picture to report but thought a) I might get punched and b) really what will happen.

Feeling v indignant. Why be so gross? Why be such a thug? Or WIBU and an interfering busybody?!

good for you , the pp who went to the womans house and made her come back and retreive the dog dirt. We live in a gated town house complex and allow public use of the central pathway, but that may have to stop because its being used as a walk your dog and let it shit pathway- also on the grass and in the flower beds- right beside the signs saying not to do that. Some pick it up and put it in the box for discarded mail beside the mailboxes! Perhaps why more apt buildings and condo complexes are banning dogs.

Janeymoo50 · 08/01/2016 12:18

I hate that, I once lived directly across from a primary school and every morning would walk past a huge pile of shite in the same spot. Once someone wrote a message in chalk on the ground there asking the person to clear up their mess. It was literally outside a front gate, same spot, same dog probably.

Asskicker · 08/01/2016 12:26

selfloathing your post made me smile.

You clearly missed the bit where I said that bin can only have certain items in. We pay separately for that bin as we run our business from home. Are you suggesting I should pay the fine from the company for having shut in my bin or remove it myself?

Did you also miss the bit where she does it a lot because she doesn't like dog shit in her own bin. But excepts the neighbours to be ok with it.

You can clear dog shit up and not make it other people's problem.

She should have had a bag with her and took it home.

Too right I made her remove it. I imagine she preferred that then me knocking on the door telling her she needed to pay the fine.

Asskicker · 08/01/2016 12:30

expects the neighbours

ClarkL · 08/01/2016 12:30

we've had a dog take to doing his daily business on the grass verge immediately next to our low picket fence, we're in the village with no proper footpaths so everyone walks across the front of our garden IYKWIM. Neighbours spotted the new tenant letting his dog out and do his business but not clean it so told us to warn us it was there...I was pretty miffed but hadn't seen anything myself, then we find dog poo IN our front garden as the dog runs out his garden isn't on a lead and goes where he likes whilst he stands chatting, Ive responded with a passive aggressive sign to attach to the fence reminding people to clear up dog poo and have every intention of outing him if I see him and if he gets aggressive I shall be depositing the dog poo back in his garden, preferably on his path...and I may drop off the various shoes with dog poop on as well for cleaning.

Awful man pamplemousse. Waste no more energy stressing about him Flowers

It is possible, even for the most responsible dog owner, to forget bags though. We are human after all.

It happened to me once. DD had taken the bag of bags out of my bag IYSWIM. I politely stopped a mum with a buggy and asked if she had a nappy bag to spare. She didn't. I then asked another chap who was walking by. He didn't. Getting more and more flustered, I went into the only establishment on the street that was open (it was before 9am). And the lovely, lovely gym receptionist had a ready supply of poo bags from her own dog. Poo bag angel, if you are a MNetter, thank you Smile

Slimmingcrackers · 08/01/2016 12:46

Sorry, but I don't understand how anyone could "forget" a poo bag when going out walking. They come in tiny rolls of 20 or so , about 3.5 cm x 2 cm. I always take one in a special poo-bag dispenser (the size of a tiny purse) that attaches to lead and one zipped in my pocket, which means I have on average 30 bags or so at my disposal. And by necessity, before you walk: you have to call the dog, put on it's collar and lead or harness and whatever before you leave the house and checking you have poo bags is part of that ritual. And you ritually buy more poo bags at the pet shop when buying dog food. I agree with the poster who said that if you go out without poo bags then you probably weren't intending to pick up in the first place!!

Slimmingcrackers · 08/01/2016 12:48

huggelove x post!! Sorry my post wasn't directed specifically at you, or anyone else who has accidentally taken the wrong coat or whose partner hasn't put the poo bags back in the right place!! These things do happen occasionally. I meant that it is hard to forget poo bags on a regular basis!

SoapandGloryisDivine · 08/01/2016 12:55

The next time he runs out of bags I hope someone is around to give him a nice big fat fine :) Arrogant bastard.

He should make sure he always has a bag when he takes out his dog, because there is a chance that his dog will have a shit whilst out.

ABetaDad1 · 08/01/2016 12:57

This happens a lot round our area. At night people leave the piles when they think no one will see them. Its right outside a school all over the place and always trodden in.

Council will do nothing even if you report.

I am strongly in favour of micro chipping and compulsory dog licences and registration of dogs in urban areas with a £25 per annum fee that pays for dog wardens and street cleaners.

StayWithMe · 08/01/2016 13:02

I walk a lot of dogs and the parks and roads defiantly get filthy in the winter. I think it's because the darker nights and less 'dogless' walkers in the parks, gives the lazy gits an opportunity to get away with it unseen. I get so angry because if I can manage to pick up after six dogs on a walk, then why can't owners pick up after one?

I always say there's a difference between dog owners and dog lovers. A dog owner doesn't care what people think of dogs and don't care if shut is left. A true dog lover won't want people thinking badly of dogs so will always pick up after them. If you live your dog, then why wouldn't you be prepared to pick up after it?

trixymalixy · 08/01/2016 13:03

Always baffles me how people can defend stuff like this! Not clearing up after your dogs is vile, as is putting the shit in someone else's bin.

I frequently find bags of dog shit in my glass or recycling bins neither of which will be emptied if the bin men see a plastic bag. So I have the pleasure of removing it. Selfish fucking dog owners give me the rage. Pick up your dog shit and take it home.

StayWithMe · 08/01/2016 13:06

We have those laws where I live, unfortunately the dog license money is not ring fenced for dog related issues, but put into the council pit and spent on whatever they like. Resulting in 2 1/2 dog wardens for a resential area of over 60,000 people. I'd gladly pay more if it was used just for issues regarding dogs and meant more wardens.

Botchit · 08/01/2016 13:06

Sooper, I can't believe your ignorance. What do you want him to do exactly? Easy I want him to apologise, run home, collect a bag and pick up his dog's waste. Not everybody can avoid stepping in poo, it's utterly disgusting. Can you imagine how horrible it is to have to wipe poo off a cane that has to be run along the ground to be able to walk anywhere?

huggelove · 08/01/2016 13:25

That's okay slimmingGrin

EmNetta · 08/01/2016 13:40

Sorry to hear of smelly bin in summer, Koala. Since having a maggot problem, I've always wrapped any smellies twice, including the main kitchen bag, which has stopped smells leaking from bin and might be useful in summer.
I've not been able to have a dog for years, so not had to do any picking-up generally, but have sometimes wondered how effective the "hole-in-the-lawn" composting bins are for dog poo - could be more useful than dog wardens if available to the public in the worst areas.

LeaLeander · 08/01/2016 15:10

At some apartment buildings in the US, resident dogs are required to submit DNA samples. When poo goes unpicked-up, it is DNA tested, traced back to the dog owner and the owner fined. I think that's an excellent idea and would think it would work in other communities too, though obviously not practical everywhere.

It wouldn't work in the UK because they're a bit more wooly-headed here when it comes to dogs.

Floggingmolly · 08/01/2016 15:22

Why wouldn't it work if it was made mandatory? I wish it could be introduced here for both dogs and cats

Madbengalmum · 08/01/2016 15:32

I have a dog and pick up afterwards, ues sometimes accidents happen and you might have an ill dog that has upset stomach etc, but you still do your best to sort it out.

As for the irresponsible ones mentioned on the thread, certainly with the women putting poo in others bins, well she would either get it through her letterbox or in her own bin where it belongs, if everyone did that i think she would get the message.

Frostycake · 08/01/2016 15:52

Asskicker Shock !

Honestly. The brass neck of some people.

doesn't like shit in her own bit so puts in the bins of other people!

Good for you for standing up to her.

daisychain01 · 08/01/2016 15:57

not excusing the person's behaviour but I bet their reaction was one of embarrassment and guilt - they never expected anyone to confront them and shame their behaviour.

Well done for saying something jus, but don't be a hero next time, they could thump you. Protect your personal safety as the first priority.

But I have to say, I'm mouthy enough these days that I would have been tempted to say something, because of the public health risk! Urghhh

Helmetbymidnight · 08/01/2016 16:33

I doubt it was embarrassment or guilt.

I bet he's just a typical arrogant scumbag who thinks its fine to let his precious dog shit over the streets. Unfortunately, he's not on his own.

Asskicker · 08/01/2016 16:33

Honestly. The brass neck of some people.

I know, I was so shocked at her behaviour. Even more shocked when I found out other people had seen her but daren't say anything.

can't help but wonder if Selfloathing in my neighbour though

jusdepamplemousse · 08/01/2016 16:43

Yeah, to be honest I'm all for giving folk the benefit of the doubt but I'm struggling to reconcile the act of yelling obscenities at a heavily pregnant woman in the street with feelings of embarrassment and guilt Grin Confused. Perhaps though!
