To think this is just a super depressing, kind of disgusting and unnecessarily aggressive start to the morning?!

Walking to work, passed man walking dog on our street who let dog do massive poo and just walked off. It's a horrible and way too common problem round here. I said, 'excuse me, could you pick up after your dog please?' and get the (shouted) reply 'I've run out of bags and anyway you can FUCK OFF. Have you got a bag? No? JUST FUCK OFF THEN.'

AIBU to be a bit taken aback by the reaction?!! Lovely start to the day...

Considered taking his picture to report but thought a) I might get punched and b) really what will happen.

Feeling v indignant. Why be so gross? Why be such a thug? Or WIBU and an interfering busybody?!

My God, man who lets his dog shit on the street, fails to clear it up and shouts fuck off is being defended.

There's always one person defending the undefendable. Or on MN, usually several.

OohMavis · 08/01/2016 09:50

Don't dogs typically do one poo? Two, maximum?

Unless his dog curls out three turds a second he took his dog out without bags, which is grim.

What an aggressive prick.

LagunaBubbles · 08/01/2016 09:51

Yes he was aggressive and there was no need to swear but if he'd run out of bags and you didn't have one to offer what did you expect him to do exactly?

Good god really? You are defending someone who doesnt clean up after their own dog sooner? That is unbelievable, some peoples opinion son here never cease to amaze me. Guess youve never had to run the gauntlet with dog shit all over the pavements then, or you one of the people that would do this? I cant think of any other explanation for your post.

And in answer to your question I would expect him to go and get a bag and come back, dog owners (responsible ones anyway) would always have one with them before leaving for a dog walk.

LagunaBubbles · 08/01/2016 09:54

And just when you think youve seen it all, along comes someone defending a twat who put her own dog shits in someone elses bin!

IsItMeOr · 08/01/2016 10:11

Selfloathing most councils/waste collection services have rules about what they will accept, and if you put stuff in that they won't take, they will simply not empty the bin.

So the poo in the bin had to be cleared out by somebody. Asskicker did absolutely the right thing in my opinion, of getting the person who created the problem to resolve it.

Furiosa · 08/01/2016 10:12

On DS first day of nursery a woman walking her dog in front of us let it shit right in front of the nursery gate!

She fiddle with a bag then just walked off.

I was speechless at first but finally called after her that her dog had in fact done a shit right where children will be walking and she told me to fuck off!

I still see her walking the dog around the nursery, the whole area around there is littered with dog crap. Despicable.

fresta · 08/01/2016 10:13

I would never challenge anyone letting their dog shit on the pavement and leaving it as they are highly likely to be a complete and utter scumbag! Only filthy disgusting people do this. Round here they do it at night under the cover of darkness and every morning on the route we take to school as it is an unoccupied road without houses the pavement has several piles of massive dog poo along it. Little ones on their way to school often tread in it and then it ends up on the classroom carpet. Disgusting people. If you ran out of bags one day there are several options- go buy a bag and go back later for the poo, ask a neighbour, ask a fellow dog walker on the street, leave the dog at home until you have more bags, etc.

CocktailQueen · 08/01/2016 10:17

Sooper - Yes he was aggressive and there was no need to swear but if he'd run out of bags and you didn't have one to offer what did you expect him to do exactly?

But OP didn't know he didn't have a bag! She just saw him not picking up his dog's shit!

I hate many dog owners. For exactly this reason.

ChatShitGetBanged · 08/01/2016 10:27

how vile

horrible man

Flowers for you op x

MissBattleaxe · 08/01/2016 10:31

If he knew he was taking his dog out, then he knew he would need bags. It is beyond anti social!

I see a lot of people who pretend they can't see their dog doing it. They do that casual "I wasn't looking so I can't be expected to pick it up" thing.

ExConstance · 08/01/2016 10:40

Like some of the above posters I always seem to have half a dozen poo bags in every pocket of every jacket I have. You need to have this many just in case of extra poos, or extra large poos (TMI sorry) I also carry gloves and wet wipes just in case there is a runny poo so I can clean the grass or pavement up too.

Floggingmolly · 08/01/2016 10:44

How many times can a dog shit on one walk that you'd "run out" of bags??
My arse he'd run out.

shinynewusername · 08/01/2016 10:46

YANBU. I have occasionally run out of bags when my dog has been - ahem - unexpectedly loose. When it is happened, I have either asked a fellow dog-walker for one or gone to the nearest shop. Running out of bags is not an excuse to leave crap lying around.

Yokohamajojo · 08/01/2016 10:48

My son managed to trod through a massive dog poo right outside the school gates this morning! It's so disgusting and a massive problem outside our school. I am sure it's the same person who just lets their dog do their morning business right outside a primary school. So wish I could report them!!

Hatethis22 · 08/01/2016 10:49

You don't run out of bags because you take lots more than you'll need. I take 6 bags per dog.

Greydog · 08/01/2016 10:52

I take 5 bags per outing, if it's a whole day out I have an emergency bag with water, j clothes and a carrier bag for any unpleasnt stomach upsets. Was very glad of that last summer!

Hatethis22 · 08/01/2016 10:52

Yes to wet wipes!

Responsible dog walkers get pissed off with arseholes like this man. It's often us or our dogs that end up standing in shit they've not cleared.

diddl · 08/01/2016 10:57

There was no need for that at all, was there?

A dog pooed just outside our proprty once & the owner left it.

I did have a bag so picked it up & sent one of the kids after her shouting "you forgot to pick up your dog's poo. Here it is. Wit, lady-YOUR DOG'S POO!"

Someone had let their dog crap on our front lawn recently.

We don't have a gate, but it was well onto the lawn, dog must have been off a lead.

Not that that excuses it. I just think it's odd to have a dog off a lead when walking in the street with it.

KinkyAfro · 08/01/2016 11:00

Seriously selfloathing? The OP and DH were the ones 'seriously unreasonable'?

speechless Shock

diddl · 08/01/2016 11:14

How satisfying would it have been to have had a bag to give him?

He probably wouldn't even have picked up then though.

LeaLeander · 08/01/2016 11:15

Brava to Asskicker. I would have made the woman remove it, too. Not interested in dog feces in my bin.

In my community it's against the law to put anything in a resident's bin. I'm currently using a webcam on loan from the ordinance enforcement officer to catch a similar culprit so he/she can be fined.

SpecialistSnowflake · 08/01/2016 11:38

Dog shit has got worse in our area too. I called the dog warden after the same - apparently very sick - dog shat on our garden path twice in a month, and he just gave me advice on how to get rid of the scent!

AppleSetsSail · 08/01/2016 11:44

Good grief sooperdooper part of dog ownership is going out with more poo bags than you could ever need in one go. I agree with whomever said upthread a bit is that to have a dog is to have poo bags and rotting bits of chicken in every single jacket pocket.

People are like this, though; councils don't enforce laws.

ScribblerOnTheRoof · 08/01/2016 11:55

There is a new rule out now that if you are walking your dog and do not have any bags with you (even if your dog has not fouled) you will receive an instant fine. May just be in Wales?

TBH though, this has happened to me. I took 3 bags out with me and my dog had the poops and used all three and went again! I went home and got a bag to clean up after her. Its all I could do in the situation but I leanrt from that and now take the whole roll of bags!

Pumpkinpositive · 08/01/2016 12:14

There's always one person defending the undefendable. Or on MN, usually several.

Selfloathing's post makes that at least two on this thread and we're only two pages in.

Is there a full moon tonight or something?? Hmm

OP, YANBU. My neighbourhood is literally swimming in dog shite. Sad
