Where do parents get off being rude to school staff?

How do they think it's acceptable to ring up a receptionist to rant and swear and demand action. To threaten staff that they'll come down and find them if staff don't ring back by a certain time?
I simply can't imagine speaking to anyone like this. Particularly a stranger that you want to help them.
Do you shout at school staff? What do you think it will achieve ?

Hmmmm, obviously ipissedofateacher really did in her youth and I fear it may have been her English teacher.

MrsDeVere has put up a splendid post.

Finally, if you are going to complain then please get a copy of the complaints policy and follow it assiduously. It is there to help and protect both parties, so use it.

mysteryknickers · 06/01/2016 20:11

ipissedoffateacher You sound at the end of your tether and I want to wish you luck for tomorrow.

thelouise · 06/01/2016 20:12

ipissed way to derail a thread and make it about you!

Waltermittythesequel · 06/01/2016 20:12

Latte I hardly think that's necessary.

MsJamieFraser · 06/01/2016 20:13

Confused latte didn't say that at all. She said you pissed off a teacher, referencing your user name.

Sorry for commenting but most procedures are in so that the school can say they have one on the case of litigation. IME they are not worth the paper they are written on, if a teacher has been negligent and a child has been injured.

Waltermittythesequel · 06/01/2016 20:23

I read it as pissed off. And she's being a knob because your username says pissed 'of', not pissed 'off'.

NickiFury · 06/01/2016 20:24

Yes, the cheap spelling/grammar shot.

HelsBels3000 · 06/01/2016 20:25

I agree with the Op - I'm shouted at regularly, sworn at, complained about. It is a tough job to do. A lady doing a similar role in a neighbouring primary school was the target of a disgruntled parent - driving a car at the time! Said parent has now moved her child to our school - am considering investing in some body armour!

JackandDiane · 06/01/2016 20:28

is it barrows? i have been saying both barrels for YEARS!

The young man who joined my department has a line for parents that "demand" things, he says:" I'm sorry but I used my professional judgement, I'm not customer service." The second was when a father got all agressive at a female member of staff at a parents evening, threatened to hit her, he stepped in and said: " I rather think it would be fairer if you picked on someone your own size, I'd be happy to oblige you." The Dad shut up rather quickly.

PUGaLUGS · 06/01/2016 20:32

Fivegomad agree.

We might get paid, but I can assure you it isn't enough to to take someone else's flack.

JackandDiane · 06/01/2016 20:34

i dont think i like the term 'frontline' staff - a bit war like

LatteLady · 06/01/2016 20:34

OK, so you have gone through the informal consultation. Have you formalised the complaint? Has the GB investigated the complaint and returned their verdict? If yes, and you are unhappy, then have you appealed?

Finally, please amend your name and put the other f in your name.

MsJamieFraser · 06/01/2016 20:36

JackandDiane, it might be although I've never understood it to be barrel, barrows is a cart that goes two ways.. so for me its me saying I have gave it to her both ways... barrow is cylindrical in shape so makes no sense...

Just me tho, Grin a wee bit weird like that.

LatteLady · 06/01/2016 20:36

JackandDiane, it is barrels, as in double barrelled shotgun.

And if the person that sits in the big chair and gets the big money hasn't got the balls to face me then they shouldn't be doing the job.

What big money? Teachers are public servants.

Errr actually some Heads are big earners - not unheard of for them to earn £150-250K pa in London!
