...... would you turn up on their doorstep with a case of it?

DDs friends mum did this on xmas eve, as a thank you for giving her girl lifts to the sport they do. I'd had a little drink Grin, and sort of took the box from her, saying how very generous, what a lovely thing to do! really no need etc etc.

DH has been winding me up ever since saying she only intended to open it and give me a bottle, and prob had five more mates to visit Blush.
I keep thinking about it and going hot and cold!! How embarrassing, but who would do that? You'd come to the door with one brittle surely?

I give and get given cases of wine. How big a favour and how valuable is the wine? Then figure out whether it's reasonable! But a lot of childcare is worth a case of wine.

It's not really childcare though as they are mid teens, no hassle. It's not like looking after little kids. And we go every week anyway regardless. So yes a very generous gift indeed.

It was meant for you! NO doubt about it.
Don't feel embaressed. Noone and i mean noone is going to come into your house with a case and just give you one and take the rest back to the car. Its ridiculous. Your dh and dd are pulling your leg.
She was shocked or taken aback by the way you greeted her. She didn't expect your forthright reaction. That is all.
Enjoy - guilt free :)

That's exactly it Majestic! But we go anyway, been driving our girls there for years, wouldn't expect any gifts for taking her lovely girl, who is a fab influence on my slightly wayward DD.

£48 worth of M&S prosecco? Yeah, its all for you, given what you've done for her DD.

What if it was for her christmas lunch? She was worried of someone seeing it in the car?
Kidding o.p was probably for you.

Definitely invite her round for drinks. Especially if you think you'd like to get to know her better.

You can ply her with wine and once you're pissed relaxed enough, you can bring up the subject of whether you grabbed a case of wine you shouldn't.

If the were meant for others as well she'd have only brought one bottle into the house and all the more-so because she was driving- the rest could have been left in the car.

And to be honest I think the fact you were tipsy and caught on the hop means you're reading things into it that didn't happen - things like her you wrestling the box from her and her confused face.

FFS OP, I'm reading this to try to go back to sleep. This is hilarious. I already commented earlier, but it just gets funnier.

Yes cheesy had already been tempted.

Hilarious to think of you trying to pour six bottles of wine into her and her DH one evening.

Seriously though, if you've been driving her child hundreds if miles a week, all year, it was probably for you Grin. oh, wait, you haven't?
