In ridiculously sad excited. I got given an Instant Pot Duo 60 for Christmas and it is utterly fantastic!

I cooked a cheesecake in 25 minutes. It's delicious. Then I pot roasted a 2kg joint of beef in 45 minutes -beautifully tender and still just ever so slightly rare in the middle.

Was browsing Amazon prime day - and came across the deal above. It seems to have accidentally been added to my basket, and my finger slipped on the buy now button. Ooops.

Dawndonnaagain · 12/07/2016 22:04

I've just bought one. I do hope I will love it! I'm relieved that it's good for soup and I imagine it'll be better than having the oven on in this weather!

Salivating over this thread while I wait for my birthday and Instant Pot present to come. Was going to go for the 6 in 1 but this thread has convinced me I need the 7 in 1. Never used a pressure cooker before, looking forward to getting to grips with it.

MirabelleTree · 01/09/2016 10:36

I think you've made a wise choice getting the 7 in 1, enjoying my Greek yoghurt this morning,

Bodicea · 01/09/2016 10:45

I did dads cook dinner macaronic cheese the other day which was so easy ( evaporated milk replaces a white sauce).
I joined the fb community which is mostly Americans so the recipes have a largely America slant and instructions. Lots of v v unhealthy food with lots of cheese and heavy sweet sauces etc- macaroni cheese for example which is ok once in a while for a treat.
I found a uk group but needs more members people.

I've just come on to say Amazon are doing the instant pot 7 in 1 on 'today's deals' for £99

I've just brought one! So glad I didn't but it at the weekend as I've saved £70!

Just got mine. But I am now away for a week so the experimentation will have to wait. Time to read bavk through this thread.... The accompanying cookbook is a bit disappointing given the vast amount of people cooking with and raving about the IP.

Bloomin big isn't it! Not as wide as the slow cooker I am hoping it will replace but it is so tall It will only fit in one of my cupboards.

ReggaeShark · 11/09/2016 15:53

I'm obsessed with mine already! Arrived on Friday 😄

Yourface · 25/09/2016 16:10

I bought one this week. Still experimenting and somethings are coming out better than others but am bizarrely enjoying cooking with it.

I have a few questions...

  1. Can anyone recommend a cook book?
  1. I understand you can cook spaghetti and the meat sauce together. How is this done? Wouldn't you end up having to add loads of water to the sauce and risk it coming out runny or could I put spaghetti in a separate container on the trivet over the top of the sauce? If so can I use any container eg plastic or China? How much water?
roseshippy · 25/11/2016 16:27

£70 today ! www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00OP26T4K/

MustBeThin · 27/11/2016 15:59

I bought one on sale too bit nervous and excited.

Ruhrpott · 27/11/2016 16:00

I still love mine too

slamdunkthefunk · 27/11/2016 16:03

I remember this thread! It prompted me to buy one months ago, and yes, I still love it!

Tempocalypse · 27/11/2016 16:18

It's awesome. I'm cooking a whole chicken for tea later, it'll take 30 minutes and be incredibly tasty!

Oysterbabe · 27/11/2016 16:23

I didn't know I wanted this until now. I want it. Will I use it? Counter space is rather precious in our little kitchen. DH wouldn't be pleased.

HemanOrSheRa · 27/11/2016 16:27

I bought mine in January Oyster and can honestly say I've used it, at the very least, three times a week if not more. Marvellous bit of kitchen kit!

Oysterbabe · 27/11/2016 16:40

Thanks.
I've been thinking of getting a slow cooker or something similar for a while for days when I have work and DD has nursery. We have so little time in the evening I end up feeding her a pretty unexciting diet. Is it good for making a quick evening meal?

HemanOrSheRa · 27/11/2016 16:46

Definitely. It has got a slow cooker function on it. Although I haven't needed to use that. Chicken breasts cook in about 8 mins (with about 10 mins or so pressure release). A bolognese/ragu style sauce will take about 10 mins or so once you've done initial sauteing (with another 10 mins or so to let the pressure release) and it tastes like it's been simmering for hours. Stews/casseroles/chilli/soups etc are all really quick.

HemanOrSheRa · 27/11/2016 16:47

Oh and steamed veggies take about 2 mins!

Oysterbabe · 27/11/2016 16:55

Is it massive?

HemanOrSheRa · 27/11/2016 17:01

It's approx 14 inches wide including the handles which stick out. And the same high. You can store it with the lid upside down which will make it a bit shorter. Here's mine. With the closest thing I could grab for scale! It's a bit mucky Blush. I'm cooking with it right now!

That's very helpful. Thank you :)
I think I'll probably go for it.
