I just find them repulsive to look at! seriously. Considering not going back to my opticians because their receptionist has them and I just find them a bit haunting iykwim.

They are even worse than those rings through the nose, which also just make me want to go ewwwwww!

originalmavis · 30/12/2015 16:11

They smell? Eeeeewwwwww.

flatbellyfella · 30/12/2015 16:13

Just Gross !!

finetonive · 30/12/2015 16:18

How do they smell? Confused

Agree that they look terrible and ever so slightly ridiculous.

Blueprintorange · 30/12/2015 16:20

Yes they do smell, it's awful. I hate the sight of them too.

Notagainmun · 30/12/2015 16:20

Agree they are gross

AyeAmarok · 30/12/2015 16:24

Yep, they stink. The ear cheese. It is VILE!

AwfulCuntForTheButter · 30/12/2015 16:25

They only smell if you don't clean them! Plus some plastics can make them whiffy. I used to wear stone, glass or wood tunnels, I never had a problem.

PeaceLoveAndMincePies · 30/12/2015 16:26

Agree they only smell if you don't look after them, eww.

SixtyFootDoll · 30/12/2015 16:27

Agree, I find them disconcerting. Give me the heebeegeebees

BreakingDad77 · 30/12/2015 16:27

Its the more the smell of necrotic flesh tbh and the fact that it won't fix itself if you go to far. Eventually you will need to cut half it off to get your ear back.

Damselindestress · 30/12/2015 16:27

Like any other part of the body, they smell of sweat and dead skin cells if not cleaned properly and regularly. No reason for them to smell if the lobes and jewellery are clean.

I think YABU to judge someone by appearances. There is a lovely cashier at our local shop with stretched ears. Her look is more extreme than I would go for myself but I got to know her as a person, enjoyed chatting to her and was impressed with the quality of her customer service. I'm glad I didn't avoid her just because of her ears, which have absolutely no bearing on her ability to do her job.

IHaveBrilloHair · 30/12/2015 16:27

Dd wants to do hers, she is 14 and over my dead Fucking body!
She wears the fake ones.

notquitehuman · 30/12/2015 16:29

They look good on a tiny percentage of the population who can really pull off the alternative look.

A friend of mine took hers out and they wouldn't shrink back all the way. She's now got to pay for a private surgery to have them stitched up. Owch.

AwfulCuntForTheButter · 30/12/2015 16:30

Necrotic flesh? Only in extreme scenarios involving fuckwits, BreakingDad Wink

The ear CAN shrink back considerably, even with large stretches, BUT it depends on the length of time taken to stretch them, how you look after them, and individual bodily make up. Some people have more elastic skin than others.

stitchglitched · 30/12/2015 16:32

I struggle to look at people who have them, they make me feel sick.

sije · 30/12/2015 16:32

They repulse me, and I know a number of people with them. Makes communication difficult.

wickedlazy · 30/12/2015 16:33

Not a fan of them either. And I have my tongue and eyebrow pierced so not because I don't like piercings. The smell can be necrotic flesh, when the hole starts to become too big. Like coke can size .

Bailey101 · 30/12/2015 16:33

Apparently the most common type of plastic surgery (not including after accidents etc) is people having their ear lobes fixed after wearing stretchers - a bit more expensive to change your look then just dying your hair or getting new a new lipstick Confused

BumWad · 30/12/2015 16:34

Yes they make me feel slightly queasy too

Outaboutnowt · 30/12/2015 16:35

I know someone who tried to stretch hers too big and one ear split
Envy

StuffandBother · 30/12/2015 16:35

Make me feel a little queasy too

M48294Y · 30/12/2015 16:36

Where have I said I don't think the Optician's receptionist is a nice person or good at her job?

That is not my point at all, what a reductive argument!

I just find the look of her ear modifications so disgusting that my natural instinct is to want to avoid that business. They are not the same thing.

A guy in one of my A level college classes had a huge one, but wasn't looking after it. I had to move so he wasn't in my line of vision. It always caught my eye and put me off. Talking to him was like in the Austin powers were the mole has a huge mole, and Austin's poking it with a stick Blush. When they're a safe size and being looked after you forget they're there. Like you stop noticing your mates tattoo's.

Babyroobs · 30/12/2015 16:47

YANBU, they are gross as are piercings through eyebrows, lips etc . It makes me want to be physically sick.
