To be amazed at the amount of 'stuff' left in the shops

Just that really - I went into town and all the shops had shelves full of gifts/ decs etc.

Then went Tescos and I've never seen so much veg in my life- at 5pm.

Have the retailers really got it that wrong?

There's going to be some mammouth sales.

It seems to be the opposite here, I was in Dobbies the other day and most of their Christmas stock is gone, a lot of the town centre shops seem to be on January sales already. My friend is going shopping for a Christmas jumper to wear on Christmas day tomorrow, I'd be surprised if she finds one now.

I panic bought sprouts at the weekend because last year there were none left 2 days before Christmas I don't even like sprouts . But there were tonnes in Sainsbury's today.

There was only one thing I couldn't get on my list and it wasn't even a Christmas related item.

There's another day before Christmas, I'll guarantee they'll run out of veg by 4 tomorrow.

We went to a garden centre today that has a massive Christmas section, like a warehouse, and it was still crammed full of stuff. I've never been there before so I don't know if they keep it out all year or what but if I ran the place I'd be sweating!

In Tesco's they had crates and crates of every veg stacked in front of the normal shelves- it was such a waste as I suspect they'll get another delivery tomorrow too.

I thought there were a lot of discount gifts, like boxed sets half price at M and S, before Christmas this year, also picked up some cheap clothing etc. The sales should be amazing if the pre-Christmas discounting is anything to go by!

Most of it will disappear tomorrow. I catered for 10 a few years ago and had to visit 5 different supermarkets to find carrots on Christmas Eve.

I've been to our tesco tonight and there isn't a spud in sight. Loads of empty shelves, I'm hoping they have lots of deliveries overnight and I can try again tomorrow.

I miscounted how many eggs I need for things I am baking this week so OH toddled off to Aldi to find that that the shelves were pretty bare - the staff said we wouldnt have got eggs after 10 am this morming.

According to a friend my local tesco is so rammed right now their queuing way down the Isles so I expect that the shelfs there are pretty empty.

I will be in Sainsbury's first thing tomorrow. I need butter so DD can make mince pies. Xmas Hmm

And then I will need more food after Christmas.

Supermarkets have it pretty sorted re getting in how much they need.

Apart from my local Aldi last year seemed to have some sort of mis-hap with mince-pies and had piles and piles of boxes they were trying to flog for 25p without much success. There are only so many mince-pies a family can eat.

DH works for a Morrisons distribution warehouse that supplies most of the southeast and he says tomorrow's fresh food delivery to stores will be one of the largest he's seen. He reckons they've over-ordered.

Garden centre near me is appealing on fb for people to come and get free xmas trees. They have hundreds left.

penny my brother temped in tesco last year apparently bananas is the main thing in the fruit and veg section that ends up needing to be restocked the most.

We had to abandon the aldi shop and go to morrisons- the shelves were bare!barely anything in the fresh/chilled section and no eggs Or sugar!

Any appealing LIDL Christmas goodies should be bought a couple of weeks in advance Lynette. Easter too. I've had stollen and the gingerbread house stashed for a couple of weeks now. It took me a good few years to learn that lesson though, and the final catalyst was offering to supply all the lovely little solid chocolate eggs for an Easter egg hunt one year.....Turned up on Good Friday and the shelves were completely empty of anything chocolate Blush.

Dp likes his sprouts and it's the only time of year I buy them. Grin

Sainsbury's was the busiest I've ever seen it this morning. Tbf, sprouts is all I've 'panic' bought not so much of a panic more of a bit of forethought really . They had everything I needed and it was all fine.

i went to a local haskins.....it looked like nobody has bought a single item for christmas in there....it was still stacked high with trees, lights, ornaments....everything you could want for christmas...i pity the poor staff having to put all of it away (massive sale boxing day)!

DH phoned me in a rage panic yesterday lunchtime because he couldn't find King Edwards in Tesco . He got them in Morrisons eventually and is speaking to me again

We've just got back from Morrisons, open til 12, and it was as quiet as a mouse. Fantastic, easy parking, straight in- tonnes of food left too.
