To be amazed at the amount of 'stuff' left in the shops

Just that really - I went into town and all the shops had shelves full of gifts/ decs etc.

Then went Tescos and I've never seen so much veg in my life- at 5pm.

Have the retailers really got it that wrong?

There's going to be some mammouth sales.

Narp I'm not sure you are allowed to donate people to food banks!

I used to work in buying/supply chain and we always over ordered at Christmas time. Nobody wanted to be responsible for running out of certain products.

Just back from Sainsbury's - busier than previous years at 6am but possibly because we all arrived and hit the veg aisle at once like a commando unit. Grin Not a lot of: salad or crackers for cheese. Had some chickens/turkeys but not a huge number, shelves were not bulging. Milk - looked fully stocked but when I took mine off the shelf there was nothing behind it, it was all placed along the front to make it look like a full shelf IYSWIM. Glad I got up early, think I may have been disappointed if I had gone at 9am.

DH is one of three people in our Morrisons atm, shelves stacked high to the rafters with food! I was worrying for a minute there but his prediction seems to be coming true so far. Hope he manages to get the boneless lamb...

I had to leave it as late as possible to shop as I have no fridge: Asda was all out of sprouts Sad and Christmas pudding but had mad offers on lots else. Sadly, I needed sprouts and Christmas pud...

I wanted to buy more fairy lights on Tuesday and there were none left in M&S and hardly any decs in general there or the huge Sainsburys.

IAmAPaleontologist · 24/12/2015 14:07

Our Co op always has far more festive food than necessary. I love the reduced section in the days following Christmas, New Year, Easter, Mothering Sunday and so on.

But yes it is a waste

YeOldeTrout · 24/12/2015 15:06

3 local supermarkets and the weekly street market: can't find a parsnip anywhere in town (sigh). Sainsb. F+veg section was 85% empty at 2pm today: I mean completely empty of produce.

DieSchottin93 · 24/12/2015 15:47

We still have a load of Christmas shit out on the selves, plus more through in the back store.....and yet yesterday the first lot of EASTER stock arrived (a week late as well!!) WTAF Hmm Hmm

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 24/12/2015 16:30

Had one of these the other day.

Arf at M&S donating their left-over staff for the pot :o

I drove past the local Tesco Extra today, very slowly because the queues to get in and out of the carpark were causing tailbacks half a mile long.

MrsClusterfuck · 24/12/2015 20:15

The wreath holder on our door snapped in the high winds the other day but I havnt been able to find a replacement anywhere. Sad

HippyPottyMouth · 24/12/2015 20:27

There was a carrot calamity in Tesco yesterday. Rudolph is fed up with carrots. He will be happy with his leek.

TheSpectreOfMorningtonCrescent · 24/12/2015 20:32

Bloody Yorkshire puddings! I had to get giant ones. There was a whole salmon that hadnt been collected-selling it for 99p!

Lightbulbon · 24/12/2015 20:34

We wre in a tesco extra an hour and a half before closing and there were things we couldn't get because the shelves were empty.

The toy section had already been changed back to home wares.

Spectre8 · 24/12/2015 21:28

whoever mentioned bananas always being out of stock - well My local Tesco super store had ran out of bananas by 12 noon today! Also didn't have any pigs in blanket but plenty of everything else.

whirlybird42 · 24/12/2015 21:33

I went to m&s and got the bits I needed today. It was fairly painless.Smile
