To turn up at hospital with toothache? I can't cope with the pain anymore

I am booked in for an operation to remove 2 back teeth, which has to be done under GA because they need to cut into my gum and remove in pieces because they cracked while eating a while ago.
But the operation date is not til February and i can't cope with the pain anymore, physically and mentally losing my mind with it- I'm taking Tramadol, 30/500 Co-codamol, Ibuprofen, Aspirin and Naproxen and still having stabbing pains in my face, jaw and ear, throbbing in my gum, and blinding pain.
I haven't eaten in 5 days because I can't put any pressure in my mouth at all, so just having warm cup-a-soup, and warm water.

Taken a full course of antibiotics, but still in fucking agony and feel totally useless and depressed, I'm going to ruin my kids Xmas because I can't do anything but cry with pain. The thought I l'll have to stay like this for 2 months makes me want to die, I've never known pain like it. Total blinding pain that leaves me screaming and cold sweat down my back, my 3 births were nothing compared to it.
Do hospitals have dentists on call that can put you under and operate? Please help if you can, I feel like I'm cracking up with pain

Dear VaticanAssassin, I haven't posted on your thread before but I was quite worried about you, pain is so exhausting, especially ear or tooth pain, it sounded so miserable for you.

I was so glad to come back and see you'd been treated and finally got relief!

Hope you have a lovely Christmas now Xmas Smile

ChatShitGetBanged · 24/12/2015 10:15

aww so happy for you op

happy Christmas x

Great news. Toothache really is the worst.

I'm very impressed with 8 minutes! It took my dentist an hour and serious arm ache to take out one tooth. Your regular dentist sounds like a lazy coward. And cruel to boot.

I'm so glad it's sorted. Toothache is horrendous, and professionals never seen in a rush to sort it. I remember having some (but no where near as bad as yours sounded) when I was pregnant with DS1.

I was in agony with post birth constipation recently (was the size, shape and density of a cricket ball and required 2 supositories to pass 2 weeks post birth) so I can relate to that amazing feeling of relief when the pain has finally gone. I was euphoric.

I love threads like this, with a nice happy ending. Xmas Smile

Brilliant. tbh local anaesthetic for wisdom tooth removal can be quite traumatic but if the pain was as horrendous as it was, it seems like a very minor trauma in comparison.

Dollymixtureyumyum · 25/12/2015 00:43

Glad you got sorted OP. I have just had a root canal due to an infected filling and abscess. The pain was horrendous while l was waiting to have it done ,the only think that eased it was mouthwash called Colgate Peroxil. I worked literary two minutes after using it and I would highly recommend it for anyone in dental pain

Hackedabove · 25/12/2015 15:52

I don't take out lower wisdom teeth unless very straight forward, I don't think I'm lazy or a coward, but then I'm a money grabbing dentist according to most...

OP I'm so pleased you managed to get sorted.

What about Cruel hacked are you cruel?

It's obviously cruel to not attempt a surgical procedure you aren't comfortable with and which you think might fail. We're such money grabbing cunts aren't we, us dentists, referring people when we should just have a pop.

My mum's GP was a cruel coward when she referred her for a hip replacement, should just have got on with it in the practice. Fucking charlatan.

Hackedabove · 25/12/2015 18:15

Always cruel, oh yes best bit of my job is keeping people in pain and not being able to do anything to help them.

Mrsmorton · 25/12/2015 18:22

Oh yes the fun to be had!! I'll remember that at OOH this weekend, and next weekend, and New Years Day. Ho ho ho. Tis what we train for Hmm

Roussette · 26/12/2015 08:13

I LOVE dentists. Seriously I do. I have suffered in the past with everything under the sun, and my dentist and the whole practice has been nothing but sympathetic. I walk in through the door and they only have to look at me in pain and then pat my arm and talk nicely. If I was my dentist I would be fed up with me Xmas Grin

RandomMess · 28/12/2015 09:01

Can you just clarify that you saw a dentist via A&E???? I just want to know should the unthinkable ever happen!
