I've just seen my first Christmas tree post on Facebook. WTF! It's November.

It was hard to stop myself from putting a sarcastic pithy comment on their post. Trees should not be decorated until December, although it's OK in shops/restaurants once Hallowe'en is out of the way.

Anyway, it looks like a real one. I'll have the last laugh when all her needles fall off by the time I get mine up (the week before Christmas, like any sane person).

Your fb friends are late if you've only just seen one.

My fb has been full of trees for at least ten days. And the first one I saw was a couple of days before Bonfire night Hmm

For us, it's from December 1 onwards. We've done a deep clean of downstairs today in readiness and have pulled all our decs down from the attic. Dh and I will put the difficult stuff up on Tuesday Night (tree/lights/high placed garlands etc) then do the tree and the rest on Wednesday with the dc.

MsJamieFraser · 29/11/2015 21:20

Mines up, I dont care how you life your life so why should you care how others decorate their home?

Welead a very busy lifestyle, we actually wont have time in December for a few hours to put our tree up and decorate out home, this is out only free week day for the next 6 weeks. Hmm Grin

Sparklycat · 29/11/2015 21:31

Mine went up today and will go down the 2nd jan ready for back to school. What's wrong with bringing cheer and excitement to people for a whole month? Plus all that effort of decorating the house for just a week, no thanks! Rather enjoy it for longer.

BathshebaDarkstone · 29/11/2015 21:36

YANBU. Although I've been wearing my reindeer brooch for a couple of weeks and DD wore her Father Christmas and snowman hair slides to school last week, our tree doesn't go up until Christmas Eve.

We've seen a Merry Christmas banner up on November 2nd. Angry

PantsOfGold · 29/11/2015 21:50

Our neighbours have their full set of outside Christmas lights up, I got quite excited when I saw them. I am trying to hold myself off, as I tend to peak too soon. I am contenting myself with lighting loads of candles from about 2 pm onwards. Have put the kids Advent calendars up -'waiting'.

reni2 · 29/11/2015 21:51

I know someone who has a Christmas tree for Diwali, she thinks it fits perfectly with the rest of the decorations, might explain a few of the very early (early November) ones?

CactusAnnie · 30/11/2015 01:38

"Chrimmy"???

Someone said Chrimmy on page 1. I can't get past that really.

Trees going up, whatever. But fuck me, CHRIMMY ?

bonbonbonbon · 30/11/2015 02:00

Are they American? We usually put our tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving was this Thursday gone so we put it up today.

steff13 · 30/11/2015 02:32

Here it's typical to put your tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving. We threw out our fake tree last year, and we're debating whether to get a real tree or a new fake one, so we haven't done it.

RamblingRedRose · 30/11/2015 02:37

I'm putting mine up today (30th Nov) so it's ready for advent tomorrow. I know someone who sent out her Christmas cards in October Grin

OhSoggyBiscuit · 30/11/2015 02:42

I've just put up mine!

Strokethefurrywall · 30/11/2015 03:02

Yep mine is up today. I don't have time in the week, have a massively busy weekend next weekend, am away the weekend after that - if I left it any later all the trees will be gone. So we did it today. No other decs yet though. I usually wait until 1 December but figured fuck it.

Cliffdiver · 30/11/2015 06:15

We put DD's tree up in their bedroom yesterday.

The family tree in the lounge will go up next weekend and be down at about 8am on 1st Jan Grin

The shelves and fireplace have been decorated with lights though.

Saw some of those tacky foil decorations in the shop at the weekend I was seriously consider buying them... I can't, can I? Blush

LarrytheCucumber · 30/11/2015 06:24

I saw a house with full frontal lights yesterday. Is that alllowed?

LaContessaDiPlump · 30/11/2015 06:25

Mine's going up on Wednesday.

Judge away Grin

Jw35 · 30/11/2015 06:37

I might put mine up next Saturday. Xmas trees and decs before December is just wrong!

LineyReborn · 30/11/2015 06:49

The last time we had a real tree, unbeknownst to us it came with a lovely nest of spiders inside it. Imagine the hilarity of opening the living room door the next morning to find the ceiling covered with hundreds of little spinning black critters bobbing up and down on their silk strings.

Luckily I don't mind spiders but the DCs were traumatised. We now own a tremendously tacky shiny gold fake tree. It may go up this week if I can be arsed.

Similarly to usual my fairy lights in the kitchen are still up from last year; and are now ON.

Wishful80smontage · 30/11/2015 06:56

Mines been up over a week now, very busy few weeks so I wanted to make sure it was up beforehand.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 30/11/2015 06:58

I really dislike trees in January, they seem sad to me.

Mehitabel6 · 30/11/2015 06:59

The sad thing is that people are then fed up with Christmas by the time it arrives and want everything down by Boxing Day!

ArmchairTraveller · 30/11/2015 07:02

Mine's up on the 13th December and down on the 2nd of January. And yes, we always have a real tree, but they are so much better and long-lasting than the ones of my childhood.

LineyReborn · 30/11/2015 07:02

I don't get why people would take their tree and decorations down before hogmanay.

Mehitabel6 · 30/11/2015 07:08

Because they are totally fed up with it by then LineyReborn - having not been able to wait and can't even get to December before they start. A real tree will be bald!

ArmchairTraveller · 30/11/2015 07:10

We go from feast to feast...St Nicholas, St Lucy, Midwinter's Eve, Christmas eve and day, Boxing day, Pantomime/theatre day and then New Year.
We also have a special meal and little gift on Epiphany.
Christian/Pagan mix, often with aded Hanukkah. Smile
It's a time for family and shiny things to keep away the dark and gloom.
