They only ever seem to be used to diminish and try to shut down discussion. To deflect from somebody's argument without addressing it, and to try to make the other person look irrational and/or mean spirited, or to characterise their point as an overreaction, however moderately it's been been put. They are the polemical equivalent of playing the player not the ball.

The words are froth/frothing/frothers, sneer/sneery/sneering and hate/haters.

Will Nyone join me in. Moratorium?

There's a topic isn't there?

There were some pictures of William and Kate's baby released over the weekend. I didn't see a thread, I was amazed.

Not always usual. There's clothing to be discussed and royal slating to be done, describing them as claimants etc.....

StrawberryTeaLeaf · 02/12/2015 20:27

Where's the fun if everyone sticks to the topic? They don't like any criticism of the RF in there. It's like a cult.

I thought all royal threads went the same way and not complimentary at all. Confused

I just hide as I go.

Go into the RF topic and just hint that that baby looks roughly like most other babies Sparkling. See what happens. I'll be right behind you Smile

Sparklingbrook · 02/12/2015 20:35

Nobody ever uses the right topic, everything is in AIBU isn't it? 'For traffic' apparently.

Sparklingbrook · 02/12/2015 20:36

I am not going in that topic STL it is firmly hidden. Grin

StrawberryTeaLeaf · 02/12/2015 20:36

For safety, more like.

StrawberryTeaLeaf · 02/12/2015 20:37

You have more sense than I have. I have to go and look at the fawning in wonder sometimes.

Well it's good that people who want to discuss the RL and like them to have a place to do it I guess without people arriving to piss on their chips so to speak.

The Litter Tray is a nice haven from all the madness. I have only known a couple of occasions of an invasion of Hmm.

Sparklingbrook · 02/12/2015 20:48

RF even,

BertrandRussell · 02/12/2015 22:37

I'm always fascinated by how heated dog threads get compared to cat threads, horse threads or guinea pig threads.........Not sure about other animals- I only read threads about animals I have in my life.

"Go into the RF topic and just hint that that baby looks roughly like most other babies Sparkling. See what happens. I'll be right behind you smile"

much more fun to suggest that the RF children are dressed like extras in a film made in 1945......

Oh yes Bert, do that Grin I'll fire up the tea urns.

There's a RF topic? I must go and ask why the Queen always wears such blindingly lurid and always slightly off colours. Never seen off- mint, off turquoise and off-peach anywhere else. Or not quite gaviscon pink.
