Jennifer Aniston & Emirates as

aibu to hate how unbelievably pretentious this advert is....
For those who haven't seen it, JA wakes from a nightmare in her first class bed on a Emirates flight panicking she's on a plane without a cocktail bar on board... Only to be mightily relieved when she finds it was only a ghastly dream as there is a bat after all!

Who is this ad aimed at given the price of that kind of ticket is what most people would spend on a car. It just seems like a crass way of her flaunting her millions!

I know this isn't important in the grand scheme of things, but it just grates massively!

I think people who pay for first class on normal wages are stupid.

Then again I have 6 holidays a year. So I have to fly normal.

Sparklingbrook · 26/11/2015 07:49

You could have less holidays and fly posh?

Sparklingbrook · 26/11/2015 07:50

Or 'fewer' for the pedants. Grin

raranah · 26/11/2015 07:51

And spend months in the uk on holiday each year? No thanks.

Anyway I go European mostly, and I'm already easy jet + so pretty posh.

Sparklingbrook · 26/11/2015 07:53
Grin

Emirates are tounge in cheek with themselves too though. They aren't pretentious. I had the amazing fortune to fly first class on their A380 and when I took my phone out to take a picture 2 attendants came over and took pictures for me. The steward brought round a box of dates, opened asking if you'd like one...as I put my hand in the box he snapped it over my fingers, pretty women style, it was hilarious and not at all expected. Very chilled, not pretentious, but amazing quality, service and attitude. Nothing was too much trouble but not done in a fawning doffing cap way, more like a sure, no problem, great idea way. I've flown on about 35 emirates flights, mainly in business, 2 in cattle and 2 in first. I've flown most airlines, emirates at any class is the best I've experienced. The staff and their relaxed but happy, enthusiastic attitude (and all the £££££ they can invest in the fleet) absolutely make this airline the best.

AliceScarlett · 26/11/2015 10:56

I totally didn't get the tounge in cheek bit. Fail.

MitzyLeFrouf · 26/11/2015 11:07

I really want to fly first class with Emirates now. If anyone could arrange that for me I'd be ever so grateful.

iPaid · 26/11/2015 11:23

Nicole Kidman has almost surpassed the butt-clenchingly cringey 'I love to dance' advert with one for some airline.

RonaldMcDonald · 26/11/2015 11:23

I think it is a great ad and it made me want to fly Emirates first in future

cleaty · 26/11/2015 11:47

Me too Mitzy, although will never actually happen.

SarahSavesTheDay · 26/11/2015 11:54

I think you might be having a sense of humour failure, OP!

For those of you who object to Emirates demanding hot polished flight attendants - just don't get a job there.

Justfivemoreminutesplease · 26/11/2015 12:06

But what does happen if you're in the shower and the plane hits turbulence?? Are you expected to rush back to your seat (/cabin thingie) with a towel wrapped around you and shampoo still in your wet dripping hair??

Utterlyclueless · 26/11/2015 12:09

Polished attendants?

Two girls were recently fired from Emirates for calling a passenger a C**T

SarahSavesTheDay · 26/11/2015 12:19

I'm not sure what your point is, clueless?

jauntyofarabia · 26/11/2015 12:30

Im guessing that there may be a seatbelt on the loo just Confused, I will ask around to those in the know. In the bar area there are seatbelts on the sofas that surround it so you can just belt up there and continue drinking Grin

icanteven · 26/11/2015 12:39

Just another actress feathering her nest by appearing in tv adverts

Um... it's her job? She earns money by acting in things that we watch on screens. These things can be television shows like Friends, they can be movies like The Good Girl, and they can be adverts. That's what Jennifer Aniston does for a living. Was there some ambiguity about this?

Utterlyclueless · 26/11/2015 13:05

I wouldn't class someone who uses that language as anywhere near polished

SarahSavesTheDay · 26/11/2015 13:06

Good thing they were fired.

Insight into their showers.. Not sure how to do links so sorry if that doesn't work

crispytruffle · 26/11/2015 13:07

Never flown with them and feel like I am really missing out. Definitely want to now!

cleaty · 26/11/2015 13:14

I want a rich millionaire to buy me a first class flight on Emirates now. Just pm me. I won't be offended.

SquirrelledAway · 26/11/2015 13:47

DH got bumped up to first class once. He asked the steward a question and was a little disturbed when the (very camp) steward patted his knee and winked and said "I knew you were a first class virgin".

Vagabond · 26/11/2015 14:34

Emirates Business class is amazing on the A380 - i love the bar. I love that when the seatbelt sign comes on, you can strap yourself into a sofa next to the bar which has lovely snacks too. My relation is a captain on the A380 and the family only ever travels in 1st.

Sadly, I can only fly business class when I have the points. It makes going back to economy very depressing!

I think the JA ad is fabulous.

cleaty · 26/11/2015 15:23

I have only ever flown economy class.
