I don't think her voice is anywhere near as amazing as a lot of the 'great' female singers that we've had.

I love some of her songs and am ambivalent about others.

Am I missing something?

I don't get her. Her latest song really irritates me and the lyrics make her sound really arsey eg 'are you still in that town where nothing ever happens?' Implication being that she definitely isn't still there. She's off to all the happening places and that's her trying to extend an olive branch to somebody. I'd hate to see what she was like when she wanted to appear self-obsessed and superior!

To me there are so many people that are mediocre but because there's no competition, they are hailed as superstars, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Taylor Swift and others that I can't even recall as they are so un memorable. In comparison, Adele is pretty good...!

I have the same reaction to Katherine Jenkins, so I understand what you're saying. Adele is just kinda meh to me.

What's the consensus on Jamie Lawson? I wasn't expecting that... He was right, I was expecting a hint of talent and someone who doesn't say 'that' as if they were a goat.

Actually I saw Ed Sheeran at Glastonbury on TV and was pretty impressed with how he was with the crowd so yes I admit he is talented!

I like Taylor Swift and Beyonce. I can't tell Ed Sheeran or Sam Smith from any of the other male vocalists singing those sort of songs.

I have no idea Lucy beyond him bring a pet project of Ed Sheeran. My local radio station loves them both far too much.

Ooh, I definitely wouldn't say she's a bit Lily Allen, that's below the belt PinkSquash! She can sing, and she has some talent as a songwriter, but I have to admit that I don't consider her one of the best singers around.

Skyfall was not good, she was drowned out by the orchestra and there's a bit in the chorus 'We will stand tall, and blah blah blah' that sounded like she struggled with it. And I thought 'Hello' was kind of lazy. Yet more lost love... You've found love Adele, how about singing about that?

There are some bits in some of her songs that make me cringe, like 'To make you feel my luw' (yes, I meant to type that!), I don't like deliberately mis-sung words, and she does a fair bit of that. Also I dislike the recorded version of 'Somebody' because it doesn't sound as good as the live version.

I love Ellie Goulding. She has some proper haters though.

I like her and I like her music, but I must admit I'm a bit over power ballad warblers.

Tbh I do prefer power ballad deliverers over the million and one Ellie Goulding 'I'm a pretty, fragile, unique girl, and here's my pretty, whimsical and unique cover version for the festive advert season' clones, but I am thirsty for singers who sound different. I love FKA Twigs - she's a tad Kate Bush-y but that's no bad thing.

No worries Moriarty. I have found that a lot of EG's stuff grows on me. On first hearing of 'I Got you on my Mind' I thought oh dear that's a bit pants. But a couple of listens and a watch of the video I love it.

Ed Sheeran is very good and a huge talent.

Adele doesn't really have much competition. I will report that british music is doing really well in the US. Driving to work the other day there were 6 songs in a row all by British artists. All very good and unique. I don't think people in the UK realize just how big an export it is.

Glad it's not just me. I find Adele hugely overrated and boring as hell. A bargain basement Alison Moyet and totally charmless.
