Today he has, dug potatoes and carrots for 5 people out of the garden, washed peeled and chopped them (for tomorrows tea), been to visit his mother, cooked tonight's tea and washed up (I prepared it) and will walk the dog at 9 tonight

Actually, writing it down it looks ok, but he will have spent about 7 hours watching tv by the time he goes to bed tonight, that's what pisses me off

None of that makes him an electrician, though...

Seeyounearertime · 08/11/2015 23:12

Dh is very talented, and did lots more when he was younger. He can make curtains, bake bread, fix a car, cook a fantastic paella, make a table, fix and build a computer, do anything really

Is that his to do lost for tomorrow?

Glittermud · 08/11/2015 23:12

He's not white goods and you don't have to police him. Good grief.

lorelei9 · 08/11/2015 23:12

So you spend 3.5 hours walking the dog because you enjoy it but your DH isn't allowed spend time relaxing enjoying tv?

Your list of what your DH can do doesn't include "electrics" I notice. Why is retiring "needed"? I presume you're not typing in the dark?

lorelei9 · 08/11/2015 23:14

Rewiring. Ruddy autocorrect, did make me lol though.

arethereanyleftatall · 08/11/2015 23:15

Do you work ooh op?
Sorry if I've missed that.

amazingtracy · 08/11/2015 23:16

...................so you felt like going for a walk and brought the dog............reading between the lines your children are older and you don't work........yet the decorating should be something for you husband to do.........

Paella making talents does not mean that one can rewire the house btw!

Kewcumber · 08/11/2015 23:16

I'm an accountant - i couldn't rewire a room or replaster it or frankly hang wall paper. I can paint though.

Glittermud · 08/11/2015 23:17

Really though.... What do you want?

amazingtracy · 08/11/2015 23:18

if youre wise op you need to accept our collective opinion of your unreasonableness

FithColumnist · 08/11/2015 23:20

Wait, what the actual fuck? My husband's DH has done the following today:

  1. Sat in his pants playing computer games
  2. Put some washing on
  3. Gone to the pub for a few hours

We don't have kids, and it's fucking Sunday, for the love of all the gods. Unclench woman.

TheFairyCaravan · 08/11/2015 23:22

DH has
Emptied the dishwasher
Brought me breakfast in bed
Been to the shop/got fuel
Done the washing and dried it in the dryer, folded it and put away what doesn't need ironing.
Made us a sandwich lunch.
Cleaned both bathrooms
Hoovered the house
Cleaned the hamster out
Mopped the kitchen floor
Done dinner
Loaded the dishwasher
Brought me drinks all day
Has just warmed up my wheat bag and done me a hot water bottle.

Me
Got up after watching the Remembrance service.
Sat on the sofa all day.
Haven't so much as made a cup of tea.

DH doesn't give a shit.

Candleabras · 08/11/2015 23:25

I would think that even the most talented would not be able to rewire a house if they aren't a qualified electrician. I mean you need a proper certificate, by a proper electrician. He could plaster though. He can also paint and hang wallpaper. The house is old and has the original wiring with the original bulbous light switches. The electric trips off regularly at the fuse box. No!point decorating when there's so!much work to!do, although superficial decorating would be fine. Just a bit embarrassing when friends come round with paper hanging off.

Psycobabble · 08/11/2015 23:30

As others have said it sounds a lot
Did you do anything together ?

My dp got up early so I could lie in popped to the shops and walked the dog . I made lunch and dinner apart from that we all had a lazy family day watching films etc

Dp also had a little nap and played on his phone but he helped me test if the bed was still squeaking ( it was) tonight so I let him off Wink

Bettercallsaul1 · 08/11/2015 23:30

But surely no-one can get started on the plastering and decorating before the underlying wiring problems are fixed? If your husband is not an electrician and you can't afford an electrician at the moment, how can your husband do the plastering and decorating? (Can't believe I'm being sucked into this. Grin)

PaulAnkaTheDog · 08/11/2015 23:32

What would be the point in plastering if rewiring needs fine?

Also, rsdycsk thought, if you want plastering done then do it yourself!

Btw, I can make paella, can't decorate for shit though.

Crispbutty · 08/11/2015 23:34

What could you do Op?

Why do you keep avoiding the questions of do you work ooh?
For if you don't, and you only have teenage children, I would say you are far better placed than he is to sort out any DIY.

Wagglebees · 08/11/2015 23:39

Can you get him to pop over to my house and pull my other leg for you. I believe it has bells on.

lorelei9 · 08/11/2015 23:41

YABVVU and you need to learn to communicate

Off to the other really weird thread now...

Epilepsyhelp · 08/11/2015 23:43

18 years waiting for re-wiring?? If you'd saved five quid a week for 28 years you could easily afford an electrician by now!!!

arethereanyleftatall · 08/11/2015 23:46

Which is the other wierd thread lorelie?
