To ask how often do you shower?

I was talking to a friend about hygiene etc an she seemed horrified that I only shower every other day.

She said that she showers morning and night every day. I don't even have time for that! Or enough bathrooms!! The kids get bathed in the nights that I don't shower and DP showers every night. I find that if I shower every single day, I get dry skin, same with the kids too. So am I really as scruffy, dirty and unhygienic as I now feel?

To be fair, in the summer I tend to shower every day. My skin suffers though. I only wash my hair 2-3 times per weeks as it is so greasy if I wash it too often.

At least once a day.

Have to shower first thing or I feel grubby and it's the only way to tame my tangled curly hair

Often have another shower later if I've been exercising or gardening.

hollieberrie · 06/11/2015 22:21

a lot of these washing threads about at the moment! I absolutely hate showering, i get so cold and i honestly dread it. When i was living with exDP i showered daily out of consideration, but now that i'm single it has slipped to every 3 or 4 days. Quite enjoy being a bit scuzzy tbh, i blame my hippy West country roots Wink

Topseyt · 06/11/2015 22:21

Every morning for me.

I don't feel I can start the day if I haven't showered. It has been my routine for as long as I can remember.

Fratelli · 06/11/2015 22:23

Every morning and wash my hair every other day. If I don't shower in the morning I just don't feel clean!

Blodss · 06/11/2015 22:23

Bath every night, hair washed most mornings. I really would feel uncomfortable if I didn't bath each day. My skin would crawl. Think its because I grew up in a very hot country where showering several times a day was normal.

BelindaBagwash · 06/11/2015 22:24

Every day, in the evening then get into my nightwear.

Orda1 · 06/11/2015 22:26

Every day.

I couldn't do less, or live with anyone that did but luckily my DP/family all agree!

Orda1 · 06/11/2015 22:27

Oh and it has to be the morning, if I have a bath at night I still shower the next morning, I just feel so gross otherwise.

Bunbaker · 06/11/2015 22:27

OH has very dry skin and never sweats. He doesn't even need to use deodorant. He only showers every other day and doesn't smell.

Corygal · 06/11/2015 22:35

All you morning washers -

I don't understand why people shower in the mornings - what's the point when you just go out to get dirty straightaway?

Whereas if you wash in the evening, you have a whole 8-10 hours of being lovely and clean. Which is way more relaxing & much better for your skin.

DrDreReturns · 06/11/2015 22:37

Every evening - haven't got time for a shower in the morning.
If I've been to the gym / for a run I wash everywhere. Otherwise I just wash my face, pits, knackers, arse and feet.

Notcontent · 06/11/2015 22:37

I am not British so really can't imagine not having a bath or shower at least once a day!!!

I think latest research has shown that a bath or shower every day is actually good for your skin, as long as you keep it short. You are a lot more likely to get skin problems if you don't.

Orda1 · 06/11/2015 22:38

Corygal

Because we don't want to be around other people dirty?

purplefizz26 · 06/11/2015 22:39

1 shower every morning

Orda1 · 06/11/2015 22:39

Also, don't you feel dirty first thing in the morning?

Notcontent · 06/11/2015 22:40

Corygal - most adults sweat quite a bit during the night - that's a pretty good reason to wash in the morning...

Hollierthathou · 06/11/2015 22:41

This is a Mumsnet favourite.

I shower every morning and have a nice bath every evening.
I'd never go out in the morning without washing my bits and everything else and same applies to getting into bed at night.

When I shared a house and we only had 1 bathroom (as a student) I'd have a bath every night and a quick wash in the morning but I'd feel quite grubby doing that now.

Bunbaker · 06/11/2015 22:41

Not if I had a bath or shower just before bed, no.

StrictlyMumDancing · 06/11/2015 22:42

I try to shower everyday but sometimes life dh gets in the way and I'm faced with a breakfast/shower choice or getting the DC to school late. Having said that I showered twice today. For some odd reason I've been a major sweaty betty. Hair gets washed 2-3 times a week only though, its straw without daily washing.

AlwaysHope1 · 06/11/2015 22:42

Twice a day, just had one nowGrin

I have to in the morning, I can't get going without one. And I feel relaxed before bed when I have one.

Bunbaker · 06/11/2015 22:42

I think a lot of people are over fastidious these days.

itsmeohlord · 06/11/2015 22:42

Every morning and every evening, and if very hot in the summer when I get in from work too.

And I change my towels every day and my sheets twice a week

AlwaysHope1 · 06/11/2015 22:43

Same here hollier

MediumBox · 06/11/2015 22:43

me, I'm a every-other-day showerkind of person, with flannel pits and bits wash in between. showerinv more makes my skin peel off.
