To have realised that I just don't belong here?

Been here for donkeys years but reading recent threads, I realise that:

I don't really care if people pierce their babies or toddlers ears.

Can't get that worked up about male circumcision.

I like Mathew Wright

Am actually quite fond of WH Smiths

I like my in laws

I hate the phrase "wine o' clock"

There was something else also very important but I can't remember it.

Suggestions of suitable new hangouts that meet my superior/ inferior (depending on your viewpoint) tastes are welcome.

caprinahahahaah no I don't mean on this thread. Just generally. Trust me, overthinking is not one of my faults heh heh

Caprinihahahaha · 06/11/2015 23:33

[boggle]

Blimey. I'm just chatting.

Caprinihahahaha · 06/11/2015 23:34

It was an awesome 'fuck it' post.

If you are going to lose your shit then be over the top and irrational. Quality.

7Days · 06/11/2015 23:51

do it, or don't, but if you do it do it right

I say

I really like CheerfulYank. Uncrontroversial, I think!

SecretWitch · 06/11/2015 23:53

Hot damn. So to sum up, SwirlySilver, wishes to excluded all Americans and Australians from MN, thereby restoring this forum to its former glory.

That was a blazing post! Managed to slag poster's on two continents!

Caprinihahahaha · 07/11/2015 00:00

In fairness, those two continent are fucking sub standard.
I've been there [fact]

SecretWitch · 07/11/2015 00:09

Yes, well, that is your considered opinion, I'm sure. I beg to differ.

Caprinihahahaha · 07/11/2015 00:15

Aww secret, I'm joshing. Sarcasm innit...
I want to move to Sydney and the stereotyping of Americans drive me batty.

OfaFrenchmind2 · 07/11/2015 00:34

I love this thread. But I think that posters should be very careful about the timing of posting their AIBU. I have seen some pretty similar OP get completely different responses depending on what time they were initiated, or sometimes change in block after 25 or so first responses. I am still trying to figure out the logic behind it.
So depending on your activity on MN, you belong or not :)

For me, I do two things that are big no-no on MN: I read the DM, with great relish, and watch and like porn... (and no kids, so really, what am I doing here?)

catfordbetty · 07/11/2015 00:38

I have only been here a few months so have no idea whether I belong. I do know that I hate the Mumsnet word 'goady' because it is stupid and made up and there are already perfectly good words that mean the same thing. On the other hand, I have learned the very useful phrase 'to boil one's piss'.

Too true. I posted this lighthearted but actually sort of truthful thread and it tanked. I was slinking away with my tail between my legs when Worra ressurected it around an hour after I first posted. God bless the Worra!

inciteful comment
Now, am I being twatty and picking up on SPAG, or did reluctant just invent a most fantastic word there?

If the latter, reluctant is a bloody genius.

Kacie123 · 07/11/2015 09:26

I'm only joining in right now to say that while I respect it for being very well-made, and though I actually love John Lewis - I really dislike the John Lewis advert.

£7 MILLION pounds into creating some engineered claptrap sadness in this white-washed world of consumerism, which won't actually do anything to help elderly lonely people this Christmas, with that God-awful wailing music over the top of it.

I know, I know - I'm a cynical sod. I just don't see how it's actually made people sob. I also can't see how people don't see the deliberate engineering behind it and wince at the manipulation!

BrianCoxReborn · 07/11/2015 09:37

Well said!!

pictish · 07/11/2015 09:54

John Lewis have missed their mark this year.
Nothing could have topped the bear and the hare though. I thought that one was superb.

Grapejuicerocks · 07/11/2015 10:37

Of course you bloody belong here. Some of your views are just plain weird, just like many the majority other posters who don't think like I do.
I though I was a middle of the road person who can see many points of view. Mumsnet has just taught me that many people are just weird and think weirdly too.

lljkk · 07/11/2015 11:20

It's the Internet, sheesh. You can't ban by country of origin.

MNers / Brits have a better sense of humour than most Americans, I'll grant you that. Father Ted would never have been in a hit in USA.

I don't remember a single JLewis telly advert from previous yrs & think its' highly likely I'll never see this yrs' advert, either. I saw most of the Sainsbury's Trenches tv commercial last yr, though.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 07/11/2015 11:41

Ach, I don't belong here either. Not uptight enough Grin Fucked if I'm leaving though.

pigsDOfly · 07/11/2015 15:04

Apparently Benny Hill went down a storm in USA, which I think proves your point lljkk.

Hate the JL ad, it's mawkish. But then I hate JL now, having been treated appallingly over a delivery recently.
